The original 3 (IV, V & VI) were enough. If I knew the rest would become a debacle, I would have been content not knowing the rest of the story.

Technology made advances...the storylines did not.

        3) Star Wars doesn't have to stick near the Skywalker/Palpatine stuff to be episodic IMO, so if they're deciding to wipe out this entire sequel trilogy in favor of something that still has to do with Luke/Han and such (obviously not Leia anymore), they really don't have to wipe anything out and explore a different part of the universe if they wanted to. Branch off into something new.

        4) Maybe this time they actually consult with George Lucas for this.

I think it’s just easier to get people to click on your article if you title it “Is The Last Jedi getting erased?”. They specifically say the entire sequel trilogy in the article and the video.

Well, the article wasn't very clear. I didn't watch the video yet, but the title never mentions TFA, and then the article speaks heavily on things like Rey and her parents, plus an explanation for Palpatine's return... which I acknowledge is more of an explanation on the alternate universe theory, but is still an idea that the sequel isn't being erased, but pushed to the side.

That being said, I have little reason to believe Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and Adam Driver would be looking to reset things with their characters and continue with Disney on this Star Wars trip anyway. Even if that rumor were to hold in the way that I initially interpreted it, it just wouldn't come to light for that very reason anyway.

Rian Johnson screwed up terribly by wanting to be incredibly subversive and polarizing the fanbase, then J.J. screwed up incredibly by trying to fix everything and service the fans. The Force Awakens still wasn't the problem and still could have lent toward great story arcs for Finn and Kylo specifically, but Finn's was flushed down the toilet in VIII and Kylo's was in IX.

Personally, I don't have the same quibbles about the films that everyone else does, but I do have my own. That doesn't hold true for VII, though. That's my favorite Star Wars film, but I'm also not a big SW nut either. I'm okay with things like Luke being a recluse and Snoke being killed, I was okay with Rey's lineage being unrelated to anything we had seen before and yet still being perfect, and I find logic within things like how Leia brought Kylo to the light side if we can accept the new life force tactic.

Ah well, whatever they do they have to make sure it's done to reunite the SW fanbase. I think that's the most important thing. It might mean it becomes films that I'm less interested in, but I shouldn't be the target audience anyway.

well said, though I am more lenient on the prequels than the Disney Star Wars. I enjoyed all the novels far more than I did any episode not numbered IV, V or VI. cant get the genie back in the bottle, we're too far down the rabbit hole for that but I would seriously consider wanting to live in a alternate universd where all I had after ROTJ were novels. so many glorious wonderful novels.

Here's the problem those guys are old now. They were old when the sequel trilogy began now they're even older. They had their shot to use them in the sequel trilogy and blew it.

I do agree with focusing on something new. They need to move away from the Skywalkers and focus on other stories in the galaxy.

Yup, enough with the Skywalkers. Move to 1 million years before or after the Skywalkers. Create new characters, don't reference anything from the 9 "original" movies. It is stupid, Luke "saved" the galaxy in 1983 just to find out 32 years later that he sort of didn't. Enough.

They are, aren't they? With High Republic? As well as moving towards more of a MCU-style instead of trilogies?

I'm still pissed that they made The Old Republic non canon.

Lets hope the High Republic gets a movie, TV show, or even a game.

The whole idea that Star Wars 7-9 is going to erased is just silly star war fans being butt hurt nothing else. ST is still way better then PT but frustrating at the same time has 7 was so good and 8-9 did not live up to the hype after 7 and could have been a lot better.

Unpopular opinion. I like the prequel trilogy(No not Phantom Menace we don't talk about that). The way everything builds up slowly and concludes with Revenge of the Sith was well done. I grew up with the prequels so seeing them not focus on the Galactic politics threw me off in the Sequel trilogy.

I would have liked at least something to know what the state of the Galaxy was in during the time of the Sequel Trilogy.

That grown adults would think that sort of thing, let alone say it aloud even as hyperbole is unfortunate.

Star Wars fandom will never be reunited. The ideological schism and the gatekeeping mentality has made that impossible. Any movie will always make a ton of dough, but from now on they will have to decide which part of the audience is going to be irate.
