It's over the top. That's indisputable. You may not love it but it's over the top. From the frenetic pace of business transactions and schemes that jeopardize fortunes and freedom to the bribes that include porn stars, mansions, and kidneys it's over the top. If your argument is "it's not over the top, therefore it's boring" then so be it. I will agree that the painter angle wasn't great...maybe they just wanted to catch the rise of Frank Grillo, but it fell pretty flat.

Thought about watching Succession but figured it might mirror Dallas too much. Then again maybe that's not a bad thing.

My guess is that the upcoming season will be the last. Once Axe reveals his true intentions with Wendy the show is done. Like Moonlighting.

        Re: Billions (Showtime Series)

We just have different thresholds of over the top. I’m talking about this season. I don’t remember a mansion bribe, but the porn star bribe was last season (and I’d already seen that from when the Entourage gang did it to a movie reviewer probably 10+ years ago at this point). A billionaire lording health over someone’s head is also not over the top to me. The pace is more of a TV thing, they just have to speed things up. Again I’m an episode behind so maybe the last 2 episodes will change my mind but this is by far the most boring season of the show so far to me. Over the top to me is Axe ripping up the floor of his own building for fear that he’s been bugged, and Chuck walking in and rubbing his nose in it, or golden frog time, even Chuck’s BDSM speech. With the expectations of previous seasons, this one is just mundane. Like many Showtime shows, it feels like they’ve plateaud. On that note, I would actually praise the show because at least they haven’t gone full Weeds/Dexter/Californication/Shameless.

Dallas was before my time so I never saw it.

A couple episodes behind, but I don't get why they did two post-break episodes with no acknowledgement of covid. Then they slightly mentioned how it will overrun the hospital in a month

Next thing we know everyone in the office has the vaccine.

Just a weird timeline and way to go about it. They shouldn't have just never brought it up. Doesn't have to exist in that world unless they Axe finds a way to exploit it. The market crashed and they could have played off that.

Could it have something to do with the death of Damien Lewis' wife? She passed away 5 months ago so maybe Axe's quarantine allowed Lewis to act remotely thus freeing up more time for him to deal with those matters. Pure speculation.

That's exactly what happened, he was in England with her as she was dying thus why all of his scenes are remote. The season finale was filmed on his first day back on set after she passed.

Maybe-their relationship has been kind of vague throughout but you always knew their hookup was looming just to infuriate Chuck. Don’t know about the chemistry though.

                        Re: Billions (Showtime Series)

I bowed out in the middle of season 4 when it really became the same old same old.

Season 1-3 were great. I left the show while it was really fresh and smart. It then became a cliche....just my opinion.

I can see why he left as well. It ran it’s course after season 3 IMO.

I am going to check out Succession on HBO to see what all the buzz is about on that one.

Well that is a huge blow but at least that means this show likely won't drag on beyond this upcoming season. Hopefully he makes a cameo in the finale. Now my ideal ending must change...the ideal ending for me now is for Chuck to be brought down and lose everything as well. Would be cool to see it be as a result of Axe manipulating everything from his isolation.

Surprise to me since I don't follow the news that much. Show while not as good as it was in the earlier seasons still has enough legs for at least another year with Lewis gone.

It's OK just your guess anyway. Wendy will never leave the kids in the near future. Despite the fact that Chuck is such a prick currently you almost have to feel sorry for him. Don't think the writers bury him. The Axe character was very good but the more I see Lewis the less I like him. Maybe it's the forced American accent but he ain't all that.
