      Re: Doctor Strange (2016)

So, two things nagged me, not in a bad way, just took me out of the movie a bit.

      - This seemed like Hugh Laurie as House becoming Doctor Strange.
      - Almost the entire soundtrack sounded recycled from Star Trek. Same composer I guess.

Outside of that, yeah, some of the jokes were forced as was some of the cloak stuff, but really liked this movie. Given time I'd go see it again, but likely won't, I do look forward to seeing it again though. It was great in 3D.

      Spoiler

I look forward to the eventual making-of featurettes showing inspirations for some of these effects and set pieces. I also wonder if some will appear in Infinity War when the Gauntlet is inevitably whole. And of course now I need to read up on all the easter eggs I missed.

Visual effects were dope, story was decent enough, definitely an enjoyable movie experience for me, 3/5. Pretty much know what to expect from Marvel at this point, and if you like them (like I do) most of their stuff is close enough in quality that it can be trusted. Everything before the accident was kinda in super speed, but it catches you up and shows the important things decently enough. The character was great, and he's the thing that'll go forward, so a job well done I'd say.

            This movie is great

One of the best Marvel films yet imo , easily top 3

The cast is phenomenal and I expected nothing less considering Benedict, Tilda, and Mads are all AAA powerhouses talent wise . Everyone does a great job not just those 3

I give it an 8.5 and would be higher if they had written the villain a little better

            The visuals are phenomenal

Combat/action are great and some twist and turns are very clever and well done

Benedict hits a home run as Strange and cannot wait to see his future integration into the MCU

            BRAVO again Marvel.

I do agree about the villain problem these movies seem to have film to film tho

Really hope this movie is a hit/financially successful

I have six tiers for superhero films, ranging from Masterpiece to garbage, this is in the 3 tier, very good, with the majority of the marvel films, IMO. I have nothing negative to say about it, and could easily watch it every day and would really enjoy it, but I didn't really have any Wow moments.

I do think that if another Doctor Strange is made, it can get to a higher level because of the

I fully expect plenty of rules will need to be broken to thwart Thanos, leading to all the bad guys in this opening salvo being promptly revisited in the followup.

Really curious to see what numbers it put up at the box office this weekend

Took my girl and little man to see it yesterday and we liked it, she only thought it was ok but she's not a big time movie person for these types of movies. Was going to be me and little man but he insisted his mother go.

Effects were really good and in the beginning I got a Stark type feel to Strange. All the characters were pretty good and I really like Mads Mikkelsen since his Hannibal days. Tilda Swinton played the part of The Ancient One good but I do wish they had gone a different way with the casting.

I think Tilda Swinton nailed it. I love the casting. She pulled off the "compassionate but merciless" deal flawlessly. Very few actresses out there right now can match her style and grace. She's a fantastic talent.

                          The cast is amazing, IMO

Just saw this. Again, I wasn't ever a Strange fan in the comic days and this didn't grab me one bit. Sure the visuals were spectacular.... I can't imagine what it took to pull those off. However, I didn't like the smarmy Stephen Strange take. Strange was a prick, but he wasn't House or Tony Stark. I would have liked to see them stick with an Asian Ancient One as well, but I get it.... diversity is a must these days. Additionally, I thought the whole other bad universe look was cheesy. Overall, it seemed rushed (a la Capt Amer 1) in order to get Strange to fit into the upcoming schedule, I would imagine. Specifically, Strange gained his powers awfully fast. Yes, I understand he said he has a photographic memory and this is what got him an MD and PhD at the same time, but those attributes weren't supposed to matter. Sorry, but this was below Thor 2, but I'd have to push myself to see that one again.
