I wouldn't call this a great show like many on this thread might but it is entertaining, despite some dead spots and redundancy. I started on the series well after season six had begun and was in lockstep about two episodes before the finale that featured fifteen minutes of Negan. Rick is just not a compelling character.

Having said that he is a nice accessory to Negan who has instantly become the most interesting character on TWD (IMO).

But could he just pick it up now and enjoy Negan? This guy breathes some fresh air into the series.

I'm not sure if it's the character I can't stand, or the actor. I'm leaning towards the actor.
Does he still tilt his head on an angle and talk within 3" of a person's face?
Does he still raise his gun as far as he can, then angle it down to shoot at people?

This article basically sums up this series for me:
Shows have done more with less, and The Walking Dead doesn't seem to hold a flickering, creepy candle to the network's other original programming anymore.

I stopped watching after Season 4 because I saw the Matrix for what it was.
They find a safe zone. The safe zone isn't safe because it's run by a Governor. They flee into next safe zone run by Governor 2.0..... wash, rinse, repeat.

My wish is once this series has run it's course, somehow, someway, HBO is given a chance to produce it so we can see what real writers and a proper production team can do with this material.
How much do you have to hate a show to stop watching after the 4th season, yet continue to post about in 7th season.

I've never understood why so many people that don't care for TWD need validation from the internet, as though just watching something they like more is not enough. And I'm not just talking here, it's the same thing in every forum that has a thread on it.

I'm not a comic reader but I figure a season and a half of Negan and then a season and a half of some type of resolution would get the show to a tidy 10 seasons. I don't recall a premium show ever going this long without a endgame in sight yet.
"Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."

I think the article just echoed Money's concerns about the series. I'm reluctant to criticize a show I formerly watched because of the expected blowback.

I watch it because my wife is such a fan. Sometimes I find it enjoyable. Sometimes frustrating, sometimes infuriatingly ridiculous. Basically, IMO, it's a soap opera but with more action and zombies.

That said, there are worse ways to spend a Sunday evening with my wife. I don't hate the show or hate watch it, but I definitely think a lot of things don't make sense as far as character motivations are concerned. I am fine suspending reality and accepting a zombie apocalypse but when characters do things that make no sense I find that really difficult to take.

You could say that about every show.

Hell, I could say "Football is getting old. One scores points, the other scores points."

Wrestling "Bad guy cheats and wins, good guy overcomes adversity."

Gotham "Criminal takes over Gotham. Gordon finds a way to beat villain."

Survivor "Someone wins immunity. Someone gets voted off. Someone wins immunity. Someone gets voted off."

I mean, there's only so much you can do in a given scenario. The only exception is shows that are written like American Horror Story because the scenario changes each season.

This is kind of where I was last season, but I'm actually intrigued with what's going to happen now that Glenn is gone and Rick is no longer the Ricktator. I think this could open up some interesting character development.

But it could absolutely turn in to the same kind of storyline that the other "villains" have created.

Just a hunch, but I think Negan is in a different class of previous TWD villains.

                    The Walking Dead (Season 7)

Just saw the episode. Had some of it spoiled for me going in so I was watching a bit more objectively. Was a strong episode acting wise. Some great performances. Thought some things dragged on but the whole episode was about dragging out the thing so ok.

But if I'm a fan who is suppose to be looking forward to the rest of the season/series, I can understand how that episode was a giant FU turnoff. So little optimism from a season premiere. Makes the choice of cliffhanger last year even more bizarre to me.

I know he is supposed to be, but in the end, Rick and Carl will outlive him and Rick will always be the center of the show. So although he may end up with a higher body count than the other villains, in the end it's all the same.

I did want to comment on the guy who said Andrew Lincoln's mannerisms drive him nuts. Amen. The stupid head-tilting when trying to come across as emotional has driven me nuts since the show's inception. Ugh.

Though I hated seeing Glen bite it, I must give them credit for the huge misdirection they created by offing Abraham first and making it seem like Glen was safe. That had to throw comic readers off. If only Darryl had listened. I hope Maggie never forgives him.

Some people are just really bad at watching TV. That's not a bad thing. Its just annoying when they decide they have to judge what everyone else watches.
