Re: Captain Marvel (2019)
Took my kids yesterday and we loved it. Love her character and her powers. Thought it flowed well and was a different take on how origin stories usually go. Super pumped for her to be in End Game. My hype level is at a 15/10 right now lol.
As far as RT goes I still can't believe people really give a **** about the ratings on those type sites. Call me old school but I've always been of the type that I see a preview and either it peaks my interest and I want to see it or it doesn't. I couldn't care less about how good/bad a whole bunch of random people I don't know think a movie is. I'd take opinions form people I've conversed with here on OS 1000% over a RT score. Just my 2 cents on that.Comment

Re: Captain Marvel (2019)
Saw it today and it was good. It took some time getting going, but after the "twist" it was fun. Liked how they tied her into Infinity War. Solid B grade.Comment

Re: Captain Marvel (2019)
Wife and I saw this yesterday. We both loved it. Really don't get the hate from the movie, but I think it's from people who haven't seen the movie, don't like brie larson, or already made up their mind that they weren't going to like the movie going in to it. I thought she played captain marvel really well and the movie as a whole was done perfectly. I also liked how they tied it in to infinity war at the end. Definitely ready for Avengers to come out in April.

Re: Captain Marvel (2019)
There were more 'reviews' of Captain Marvel in the first 12 hours they were able to be posted than there were of Infinity War in 12 months. It's a manufactured controversy.
Their efforts failed spectacularly, Captain Marvel grossed $153m this weekend domestically, $455m globally.Comment

Re: Captain Marvel (2019)
The problem is too much access all of the time. Everyone knows what everyone else is saying and so much (way too much) emphasis is placed on what Hollywood types say. In the pre-internet days, Larsen's comments may have been a footnote in a newspaper story. It's one person's opinion .... it's not that important. Alternately, as an actor/actress, just shut up and do your job and act. Understand the opportunity that has been afforded to you, yes, with your work, and some of your good fortune, and practice and demonstrate your craft instead of using it for a platform for something else.
I read the comments and it won't deter me from seeing the movie, because, it's not that big of a deal. She wasn't being racist or sexist in my view. I can't say that for other actors/actresses that have decided to go down a different path.Comment

Re: Captain Marvel (2019)
I saw the movie last night with my one of my buddies and we both walked away saying "that was alright." I didn't find anything special about the movie. It almost seemed "formulaic" and by the book even though it attempted to be more different than it's predecessors.
I did appreciate that it didn't dwell too long on her origin, it handled that part pretty well. The best thing i can say, it looked like the actors were having fun. Samuel Jackson and Larson have great chemistry together, rifting off each other; you can tell they were having fun.
Beyond that, the movie was just "okay." I am very excited for End Game though. I think a reason it didn't hit me and my buddy so well is because they kind of paint this movie as a movie necessary for you to understand how she works for "End-Game." It almost feels like we're being forced to see this to ready ourselves for Avengers. I do think a lot of the flack it's receiving is due to it coming out before the most anticipated movie of the year comes out. If Avengers End Game was out first and then they gave Captain Marvel her own movie, it might have eased the tension it's currently getting.Comment
