    Re: Cord cutting

Just curious...are Cordcutters here using their primary streaming service (Vue, YT, DTNow, Sling) for sports watching or are you using the network apps (ESPN, Fox Sports Go, March Madness, etc)?

Me personally, I seem to use the sports network apps more than Vue. I rarely have issues with buffering (150 up/150 down) on any of the services, but I think the network apps are easier to use, have more programming options, and are of equal streaming quality.

I use Vue for everything but baseball (mlb.tv for that). I only use the ESPN app for college football games when I want to watch multiple games at one time.

So I found out about a month ago that my small town is getting free fiber optic wifi.
Apparently it will be much faster than my current Xfinity wifi that I have and that I am paying $90 a month for.
So I will go from paying over $200 a month just a few months ago for wifi and cable.
To just $44 a month for my PSVue that I love.

Before I moved and got horrible internet it would depend on the app. WatchESPN was great for me. However, FoxSportsGo was always in 30FPS while if I watched the same thing via Vue it would be in 60 FPS. Same for NBC Sports.

                  Re: Cord cutting

A little update about my PS Vue service...

I "cut the cord" about a year ago and have been happy to get away from [insert evil cable company here]. I would say the "honeymoon period" lasted about 3 months with PS Vue. Then I was a little bummed about them not carrying any live local stations in my market (and they don't seem to intend to). Then they jacked up the price by $10/month. And they added a bunch of channel bloat. Around the holidays there were seemingly an infinite number of Hallmark channels. Tons of channels I care nothing about have been added to the point where sidescrolling with the Core package actually feels like a chore. So I have been on/off with PS Vue for a good while.

The latest issue I had is when I signed up again most recently. I now get a little popup saying I'm watching outside my home area despite being in my actual living room. And despite changing zero details with my account. So it blacks out certain things--like the nationally broadcast Dodgers-Giants game on ESPN tonight (???) lol, how does that make sense? I tried following the location fix instructions, but the Playstation Vue login has been super janky and it's not something that can be done away from the website. So, it's been a cluster**** lately and Sony is seeming more like [insert evil cable company] by the hour. I am hoping YouTube TV shows up in my home market soon, so this cycle can start over again with them.

With all this and The Show being lackluster this year imo, really on the outs with Sony.

Probably an IP address location issue. Check the location your IP address says for both ipv4 and ipv6. One of them is probably off or your billing address is somewhere else.

This happened to me once about a month ago.
                          It is any easy fix.
Simply login to your account on your phone or on a PC/IPAD.
Go to the PS Vue website, login, and there is an option to fix location.
It happened to me when I took my Fire Stick to a friends house and logged into my PS Vue app. It takes about 2 minutes to change it back to your correct location if you go login on the PSVue website.

Appreciate the advice. My IP address info hasn't changed. Same CPU, router, modem, browser, PS4, and ISP as when the PS Vue was operating normally so that's definitely not it. Billing address and home address are one in the same. Most likely just something Sony screwed up on their end. It seems to be happening to other people also.

PS Vue was telling me I was watching in a location that is a 2-hour drive from my home. And a place that I hadn't visited or accessed data from.

Yeah, I actually tried this method before but the "fix location" bar was totally missing upon login. I just tried it again after reading your post and it worked as advertised. Thanks for the advice.

Your ip address location isn't exact and can change depending on what your ISP does. Plus if you connect from your phone, it may be even worse.

Haven't noticed any changes in my IP number over the years with the same ISP. Also don't use my phone to watch TV. Pretty sure this was a Sony mixup. A glitch in the matrix, if you will. I appreciate you guys throwing ideas out there though.
