Use this site - https://www.antennaweb.org/ - to see what kind of reception you might get.

I had an Amazon Stick and returned in. Their advertising makes it look like you can just plug it into an HDMI port and it's good, but they don't show that it still has a USB power cord. Never did bother to see if the USB plug on the TV would power it so I sold it.
Well, how else would it get powered? An HDMI port is not a power source. I think you missed out here. My kids got us one for Christmas. The nice thing about it powering right from the TV USB is that when the TV is off, the AFTS is off. I use if primarily to run KODI and Netflix. This thing runs faster than my Raspberry Pi 2 (wired) even though it's wireless and pulling from my network extender.

By the way....there was another thread on this topic, though was on page 2:

I'm thinking of going this route once my 2-year contract with Bell expires. I'll get the NHL and MLB online packages.

I just wish the MLB.TV package included the MLB Network. Oh man do I love that network!

I need my local sports networks (MASN and Comcast SportNet) to be available on Vue. Then I'd drop my TV provider, keep my FiOS internet, and never look back.

Are people actually saving money by cord cutting? It seems like they jack up the price of standalone internet from FIOS/Xfinity to the point where it's not even worth it by the time you've added a few streaming services.

My bill right now is only $80/mo for FIOS preferred TV and 25/25 internet but my contract is up next month so looking into my options. I may just try cancelling and signing up as a new customer in my wife's name.

How I am looking right now - y breakdown –

              DISH
              America’s Top 120 - $65.00
              DVR fee - $12
              Joey Box (2) $7 each
              Taxes and other charges $5
              Total - $89

              Netflix - $10
              Hulu - $12
              Total - $22

Changes I made yesterday (because of contract)
              DISH
Welcome Pack - $20 (5 channels of the 40 I get I will even watch)
              DVR fee - $12
              Joey Box (2) $7 each
              Taxes and other charges $5
              $10 credit for 4 months
              Total - $41

              Savings with DISH of $48

              Options going forward –
Cancel DISH and pay $140 to break my contract.
Switch to PS Vue ($35) or Sling TV ($40)
Leave DISH and sign up with cable provider that I have internet through to get local HD channels and maybe lower internet bill with package deal. ($60)

*Cheap package with DISH allows me to keep all local channels, plus DVR.
*PS VUE is cheapest option and more channels
*Sling TV nor PS Vue doesn’t have local channels. So I would miss out of NFL/NCAA games on CBS, ABC, NBC and FOX, but they both offer ESPN/FOX Sports

I am not trying to cut the cord completely, per se, but trying to save as much money as possible and get the most bang for my buck. I am not getting anything other than local and DVR staying with DISH and their lowest package. Add to the fact that after my credit it will be $51 bucks again, too expensive.

I am and adding something like VUE, would give me channels I would at least watch instead of 40 channels where there are 5 total, including locals, that I would watch for more.

I wish PS VUE had local channels. I didn't realize they didn't when thinking about this.

Eh, not really when I already have an Xbox One. Sold it for a profit, so I consider it a win overall.

If it were me, here's what I would do.

Purchase OTA Antenna + Tablo (so you can DVR local channels)

Going to Best Buy after work to buy ROKU2 and this OT Antenna, at least try it out.

Would I need a Tablo if I have Hulu for network shows?

Dropping TWC on Friday and going with PS Vue.

I'll miss MLB Network, but since they are getting NFL Network I'm hopeful MLB will be next.

One of the big reasons why I haven't done it yet is because Vue doesn't have my local Fox Sports network so I can't watch the Indians. But I just found out Fox Sports Go supports Vue so I can watch them through that.

I have the same issue, Vue doesn't carry SNY. If it did I would cut the cord on Optimum in a heartbeat.

so those games won't be blacked out?

Picked up ROKU2 and Rock Stick plus the antenna. I'll see which one of the roku players I like best and take other back.

They should't be. I've used it with TWC and they weren't blacked out.

And I actually started the Vue free trial and just found out it has all my local channels here!
