Re: Cord cutting
The direct now roku app is pretty good. I'm using the premier.
Pretty sure I'll stay with DTVN since I'm grandfathered into the big package for $35/moComment

Re: Cord cutting
I received an email stating my plan is going from $44 to $54 a month. Guess it is time to start shopping around.

Lose all of those channels then raise the price for what?
Are they trying to kill their serviceComment

Re: Cord cutting
They are making the areas that don't have all of their local channels the same price as those that do have all of their local channels. For most people it will be a $10 increase.

Re: Cord cutting
I started with the Elite Vue package and recently made the switch to Ultra. Price increases are never welcomed, but it's whatever as far as I'm concerned. I love the Vue service and I'm saving a ton of money over what I used to pay to Spectrum.
ABC is my only local station currently, so hopefully they get more of those squared away soon. Either way, I will never go back to cable again. Vue + Netfix + Amazon gives me more than enough entertainment options.

Re: Cord cutting
I feel like this time of year with no good sports on TV, having DirecTV is completely pointless. Doesn't help that since I opened my business, I'm hardly ever home either.
The problem I kept having with the streaming TV options like Vue and DTVNow was not having all the channels necessary for sports. NFL Sunday Ticket is a must for me to see the Bengals and while the antenna I got for local channels worked nicely, I did miss the DVR component and don't want to fork out a couple hundred for something like Tivo. Until one of the streaming options can offer all of CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX, I'm not sure I'll ever make the switch completely.Comment

Re: Cord cutting
My sentiments exactly. I know if you're going to "cut the cord" completely, there will be a sacrifice, but a sacrifice I'm not willing to make just yet. To me it seems "cord cutting" has become a marketing ploy. All the companies that are hailing to "cut-the-cord" provide a service that isn't too different than cable or satellite, creeping up in price little by little.
My love for sports isn't as strong as it once was, so it doesn't bother me as much.

Re: Cord cutting
Yeah true but the things I didn't like about PS Vue was no ABC or NBC live, only on demand. Another issue for me at the time (which isn't anymore) was I'm so used to DirecTV TV times because it shows everything live on east coast time on network channels. So shows like WWE RAW on USA Network were shown at 5 or 6 PM here in AZ instead of having to wait until 8 PM like with cable or PS Vue. Those aren't really an issue anymore because I haven't watched WWE since WrestleMania. But the ultimate deciding factor was NFL Sunday Ticket and until there's another way to access it, I'm gonna have to stick with DirecTV.Comment

Re: Cord cutting
Even with the Vue price increase, it's still the cheapest option for me. I searched around and DirecTV Now would be at least $20 more to get the channels I use now. Sling wouldn't have MLB and with the DVR would be more expensive. I didn't look too much into Hulu, but pretty sure it's more expensive as well. Hard to beat Vue Core for what I watch.Comment

Cord cutting
So many of these cord cutting plans should just be called "Replacing the Cord."
I use TiVo with my cable subscription. If I cut this cord, I need a delivery device that is as easy and full featured as TiVo. PS Vue loses out because of the 28 day cloud DVR, and the lack of real local channels.
Also, my wife is addicted to Tivo's commercial skip button. It's pretty damn amazing, and works on 90% of what we watch. Hit the green button and it instant jumps pass the commercial break.
I'm paying for a better viewing experience. Cheaper is not automatically better.
