The DVR only hold 20 hours and shows can only be saved for 30 days? That's a massive dealbreaker.

I'll bet you they are doing the same thing as others, where the cloud recordings may have unstoppable commercials depending on the source. Youtube converts any recording more than week old to the onDemand version that has unstoppable commercials. Some shows record like that anyway.

Do they also limit all shows to stereo like the other streaming services?

I think streaming cable is the future, but we are not there yet.

            Re: Cord cutting

I have a PSVUE after ditching comcast. I think it is amazing.

My man reason for the VUE is I like to watch the NBA. They have every NBA channel (TNT, ESPN, ABC, etc) plus they include NBAtv in their Core package ($44) per month tier.

I use amazon devices for streaming. Frankly, If it wasn't for NBA games I might not even bother with it as Amazon Prime video and Netflix is pretty content heavy.

If you connect to a 5ghz or wired network you can get an option for "Smooth Streaming" that ups the Hz and really makes the fast action of sports smooth. Excellent.

I find the DVR to be totally fine, I have never noticed that I have missed something.

A really great part of the system is if you travel. You can get basically your whole TV system everywhere on a iPad, or you can pack up a FireStick and hook it up to a TV. Seamless.

Honestly super impressed with the system and will never go back to traditional.

Internet/TV bill before: $260 per month (no special channels, just 3 TVs and the crap boxes and charges for HD and DVR, etc)

Internet/TV bill after: $100 per month and really don't miss anything. Actually gained because I never used Amazon Video before or Netflix login my friend added me too.

Hate to tell you, but the future has arrived and you can tell by the money Comcast and others are losing. I've been divorced from comcast/traditional direct TV for 2 years now and haven't looked back for a second.

yeah i thought the ps vue would have commercial free dvr service, sux seein the the same commericals over and over again. I rather them just have blank blue screen saying waiting to return to show. Also maybe because i was using it on the ps4 but vue seems to use alot of data. i think it was using close to 20gb a day with 7-8hrs of use.
Kenny: Ok Vic, I'm ready for some girl on girl action.
Vic: No Kenny, that's girl versus girl.
                Kenny: What's the difference?
Vic: Well, in one, one girl wins. In the other....
                Kenny: Everyone wins?!?!

That must just be the PS4, because my wife and I usually have two streams running for 4-5 hours a day, with at least one going nearly 8 hours a day and we've only been close to our 1 TB monthly limit a couple of times.

Hate to tell you, but streaming cable users are still rare compared to the domination of cable and satellite users. While there are some fantastic advantages of streaming cable, like your TV package now being fully mobile, it's far from being a better experience than cable and satellite. I can already take the bulk of my TV with me on the road, for one.

And you are talking the wrong guy. I've been researching and trying out streaming cable packages in an effort to find something better. I was close to making the jump when Spectrum offered me their new a la carte package, letting me pick 10 channels and get all my locals for $21 a month. And that's the full price, it was $11 a month for the first six.

And when I consider switching from Spectrum to streaming cable, I have to factor in the extra $20 a month my cable bill goes up when I stop bundling cable, making that $44 a month cable offer more like $64 a month to me.

And sound and DVR matters to me. I even use a sound bar, but invested in a 3.1 version that separates the center channel from the left, right, and subwoofer. And many people have invested AVRs and 5.1 and 7.1 sound systems, but have decided to roll with a streaming cable system that only does stereo.

And if I record shows on my DVR, I need more than a month to watch them. Hell I have 7 episodes of Legion on my TiVo now. Why would I want to pay more for a service that would have dropped three fo them, and more so, starts inserting unstoppable commericals into the shows?

That doesn't mean streaming cable isn't right for many people right now. But it is a long ways from being what I would find acceptable. And I really want it to be. I think it is the future of TV, and it will be great to get rid of the DVR under my TV.

But right now, streaming cable is way to to force us into watching more commercials again, and to do so in subpar fidelity. Also, I'm lucky that Spectrum has no data limits, and seems to be promising to never have them. But it is also the path that streaming cable will use too increase the cost of service, as ISPs charge for all that extra data you are suing, especially those ISPs are also cable companies that used to sell you your TV service.

A typo for my ISP and cable provider, Spectrum, which is the rebranded name for Charter.

That was my point, it isn't acceptable to you right now, but to more than 22 million people it is. It's here and it's taking a chunk of that revenue from the big companies. One of the reasons they are starting to offer their own streaming packages, even though they are well subpar compared to DTVN and Vue. You think the service is a long way off from being a threat and I disagree with you.

I am also lucky with no data caps as I have ATT Giganet.

People with a 5.1 or 7.1 system are in the vast minority also. Majority of people probably don't even use a Soundbar.

I was part of the lucky few in the beginning to have the DTVN GO Big package for $35. I just added a third stream to bring my bill up to $40. Amazing deal right now. I'm not sure when that'll change... it will eventually change.
