I'm not 100% sure of it, but usually, the fall finale break ends a story arch. I think I read somewhere online he signed on for 8 episodes.

Thanks, Jaybee, it must be a long fall finale of 3 weeks because the previews for next week with Kirk stated something like, "make sure you watch the fall finale next week.

Ok- Just reviewed the preview again, and the wording states: The last episode before the fall finale. So, basically, that doesn't mean next week is the end of Kirk.

The Blacklist: Redemption has an eight episode order and hired a show-runner a couple of weeks ago.

Even if you're not crazy about the spin-off it should lock down a couple of more seasons of the parent show.

Aside from Navabi lust this episode sets up a great fall finale.

Classic moment: Raymond and Dembe waiting in the Dr's. office. Red looking at the Highlights magazine and finding all the objects. Dembe, you missed the sailboat.

That's the first, and last thing I thought.

Mr Kaplan's captor was a lot more harmless and decent then I thought, and that 's OK-let's get some relief from maniacs.

I might be in the minority but The Blacklist spinoff has my interest. I think Famke Janssen and Ryan Eggold is a great pairing...we will see.

Well, that would explain Kirk's change of heart regarding Red's offer...

Agree with JayBee:

I thought it was a nice twist that there was no twist, in the Mr. Kaplan plot...it just fizzled to it's conclusion...

You can't really go full bore the whole time or it loses it's impact, due to predictability...

I'm currently "meh" about the spinoff, but will mos def be giving it three episodes before I decide...

This is one of the few shows in recent memory to get stronger as the seasons unfold...

Can't wait to see how the Kaplan's return plays out...

The Blacklist will return April 20th, meaning that the break will be well over five months. The spinoff debuts February 23rd.

So is the spin-off just something that... like... happens in between parts of the actual season, or will it run and air episodes parallel to the official series itself?

If it's the former, is it just something where they go off and do something and then return to the actual show? If so, that's what I most hope for.

The Blacklist will return April 20th, meaning that the break will be well over five months. The spinoff debuts February 23rd.

I'm not sure that is correct. They advertised it as returning on January 5th.

We have seen 8 episodes. If January 5th return is correct we would get 7 more episodes before the spinoff and then the last 7 episodes to run through until late May.
