Made it to episode 5 so far, not too bad. I am enjoying it. Though every time I watch it, I want to play Sleeping Dogs. LOL

down to the final two episodes, feel like it's sputtering a little setting up the final act, hoping to finish it tonight.

Edit: had 3 to go, 2 down, finale tomorrow night. Kinda expected it to go down this path for the final episode.

Re: Marvel's Iron Fist | Netflix Original

Watched the first 4. Episode 1 was SLOW to the point of "OMG, Mad Men was slower than this but that was 100x more entertaining." Thankfully, the next 3 picked up the pace a little and the story was becoming intriguing. Colleen Wing's fight scenes are nice, but Iron Fist's fights just feel too fake (so far). I get that he's graceful, but it's disappointing if this doesn't improve in future episodes. Also, does anyone else feel that the show looks sterile? Daredevil, JJ, and Luke Cage had moments of great cinematography but thru the first 4 episodes of Iron Fist, it's just bland shots so far. Maybe it's the corporate setting look as well.

The title sequence for this is the weakest among the 4 shows, IMO. The music they use is just "bleh" and the visuals, while having the Daredevil look, looks like a poor videogame.

Just being honest, its boring as hell and the acting has been pretty bad by the lead.

Especially when im watching compelling shows like Legion, Billions and The Good Wife, i dont think i want to finish this unless i have absolutely nothing to watch.

With shows like DD and Arrow, they need to step up the fight choreography too. It looks like Finn never took up martial arts until this role which was a mistake.

Finally watched the pilot and it was decent enough to give it a few more. Truly TV type acting, somewhat on the level of CW stuff imo. None of the support characters have done a thing for me initially. Daredevil certainly set the bar very high.

Addendum: Ep 2 and I'm a bit underwhelmed. When the crescendo hit, it just didn't have really a wow factor. I think the acting remains somewhat sub-par, but will give it a few more.

                  @All -

I put this also in the LED/OLED thread...but wanted to get your guy's feedback as well...

It has been documented in an AVS thread that a couple of Dolby Vision shows (Iron Fist being one of them) are not 'kicking into' Dolby Vision/HDR mode...Can you please test and see if your Iron Fist kicks into Dolby Vision/HDR mode...Also advise if your using a streaming player, using your smart tv's built-in app, or casting...

                  Thanks fellas!

Yeah I loved it! Hope it gets pick up for a second season. I thought the actor that payed Fanny was good. But Ward stole the show for me.

4 episodes through and I'm enjoying it so far. It's not as good as Daredevil but I'd put it above Luke Cage for me.

Just finished a few days ago. Overall, I think it has the best story progression amongst the 4 Marvel shows, but has the weakest storyline compared to the other 3. Iron Fist kept getting interesting and there wasn't that mid-season lull that all the others have had. It's just unfortunate that after 13 episodes, we still don't really know who Danny is. We just know he's the Iron Fist, and even he isn't quite sure what that means either.

I hope the way he fights in The Defenders (and in the future) is more like that

Colleen Wing, whew! She's probably the best part of Iron Fist. Not to mention the fact that her fights look way better compared to the titular character. I thought Ward had the best character development; even when he was irritating, you understood why he was doing what he was doing.

The show isn't quite ready to punch Shou-Lao the Undying and earn the Iron Fist, but it wasn't a Kun Lun plane crash of a show.

After letting the show sit with me for a couple of weeks I gave it a lower score. I think the story ingredients are intriguing. My biggest issue with the show is the martial arts. If Iron Fist is supposed to be one of Marvel's best martial artists then they have a hell of a lot of work to do for this show. The fight scenes from Into the Badlands and Marco Polo are much better and they could have at least aimed for that IMO.

I agree. This show was not as bad as some in the press made it out to be but I do rank it at the bottom of the list when it comes to the Marvel series on Netflix. Ward and his father were the most interesting part of the show to me as they really got an opportunity to show more range then the rest of the cast. The martial arts displayed in this show were mediocre at best and at no time did I believe that Danny Rand was the "Iron Fist". Some of his fights I was literally counting out the steps in his choreography. The problem with shows like this is that there is always the question of whether you get a real martial artist and try to coach him/her up to act or take an actor and try to teach him/her enough martial arts to be believable. In a show with this plot point you can't screw up casting the lead. Think Jones does a good job acting but when it comes to....
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

The part you have in the spoiler tag is arguably the most important scene in the season. It lets us see how all of Danny's psychological baggage is completely arresting his potential as The Iron Fist. They didn't forget how to create stellar fight scenes. They could have crafted a story where they put him in the mask and had some super awesome stunt fighters make everything look badass, but they were trying to tell a different story. It just wasn't the one that a lot of people want to watch.

It's interesting though, that throughout this week, I've been seeing a lot of IF ads that heavy focus on Colleen. I agree with her being the best part of the season. The Defenders season is so short, that I don't know how much, if any

Also great take on the so called subpar fight scenes. It makes a lot of sense.
