This was a really fun movie. I was smiling basically the entire time. I don't know if I would say it's undoubtedly the funniest Marvel movie, but it's definitely up there. The trailer did a fantastic job of keeping some things secret.

I saw this Thursday and it was a full house. The crowd was laughing the entire time. There was never a feeling of danger because of all the jokes and fan service.

        Re: Thor: Ragnarok

Thor is probably my least favorite Avenger because he is too much like a DC character for me to get behind. This makes sense because he is an actual god (whereas Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, etc. are just written to be god-like). I’ve just never gotten behind the Thor-lore and as such the first two movies never appealed to me.

Switching this movie up to a GOTG-Style event was the best thing they could have done. Were there a lot of jokes? Absolutely! But unlike GOTG2, they all landed. Nothing seemed forced and the comedic timing, especially of Hemsworth, was impeccable. At the end of the night I came away entertained and the jokes did not deter from the story they were trying to tell. In fact they helped make the journey far more entertaining than it would have been without them. The supporting cast was phenomenal. The fight scenes were absolutely amazing. And they story they told was a great one. Easily one of the better movies Marvel has done. As the movies progress, the universe expands, and the threats get bigger, I imagine there will be more of this type of humor. Because if it was just all-powerful god (Thor) vs. all-powerful god (Hela) doing monologues about destroying/saving the earth I’d be bored to tears.

By the way, I could not be more pumped for Infinity War after this. Marvel has been knocking it out of the park for so long that I think people want a reason to nitpick. But take a step back and look at the universe they created piece by piece. While Thor is Gladiator-ing it up, the guardians are out there, Shield is out there, Ant-Man, Daredevil, Panther, Jessica Jones, Spidey, etc. are out there all living in the same world- each with their own lives and cast of supporting characters. What Marvel has done is truly ground-breaking and historic and it has been executed so well and with such vision that I sit here astonished. Marvel/Disney have made this a truely amazing time to be alive as a comic book movie fan. Thor Ragnarok is a great piece of this monumental body of work.

Just wow, as someone who generally doesn't mind the lighthearted take Marvel does on everything, this was just too much. I've not seen any of the Guardians movies all the way through but it felt closer to how I imagine those movies to feel, turned up to 11.

There's for sure some laughs to be had, but it felt like a comedy film, almost like a parody of a Marvel movie to me.

            Re: Thor: Ragnarok

For me the action worked much, much better than the comedy. IMO in Guardians the humor is a natural byproduct of the personalities of the characters, in Ragnarok I feel like it is a matter of "lets put these jokes right here" YMMV, I still like this movie a lot though.

              Re: Thor: Ragnarok

Movie was just too silly for me. I thought the original Thor had the perfect amount of seriousness and humor. This one was like watching another Guardians movie (loved the first Guardians by the way). If we didn't already have Guardians then I might have liked this better, but that's not the case. I think Hulk was my biggest issue. Bruce Banner is one of my favorite characters because of what he goes through living as the Hulk, but we get pretty much nothing but silliness from him in this movie. I thought the stuff with Hela was really good, just didn't like the excessive joking around. Still better than Thor 2 though, but it definitely a bottom 5 Marvel movie for me which is sad because had they evened out the jokes it could have been top 5 given the gravity of what was going on.

I actually liked the first two Thor movies, but feel like this one blew those out of the water. I loved the comedy and could not stop laughing. For me, it was two hours of amazing entertainment and cannot wait to see it again.

If you know nothing about the Ragnarok storyline in the comics, or the concept of Ragnarok in Norse mythology in general, the tone of the movie really shouldn't detract you from seeing it. It's highly enjoyable, but some of us geeks just wish they treated Ragnarok seriously.

I think I stopped collecting Thor comics before that story line got going, but there were always earlier references to it. Funny enough, Thor was not one of my more favorite characters, but when I stack up my books against each other, his pile seems to be one of the highest! I'll definitely see it, but it's a matter of must see now in theaters vs. at home.

I believe I watched the second Thor, but it's not memorable enough for me. So I'll just say this was my first Thor movie and I really enjoyed it. The one complaint I do have is that there were so many times where they turned a serious moment into a joke. It started becoming predictable. Besides that, I think it was great. Definitely enjoyed it more than civil war. I'll probably go watch this again.

Saw this last night. I really didn't expect them to go in this direction. Sure there have been funny parts in the Thor series. But not like this.

I thought it was hilarious. It had a guardians of the galaxy vibe to it.

I enjoyed the movie greatly. I know some people are saying too much humor but I had a lot of fun.

The worst thing about the movie is that they spoiled what would have been the best surprise in the trailers with the Hulk.

                                Re: Thor: Ragnarok

I loved it. I think they saw this to hit the reset on Thor after the mediocrity that was Thor and the absolute dog**** that was Dark World. And they nailed the reset. Don't get me wrong, I tire very easily of campy movies, but this one rides the line perfectly. Thor is an established Avenger and with that comes confidence to make jokes like he does. And I think they all land for the most part. Even the rock guy, his lines weren't really all that funny but the delivery was perfect. And Jeff Goldblum can make any movie better just by showing up and being himself if it's edited correctly. He was the second best part of the film.

But the second Immigrant Song scene, that did it for me. That may end up and the most iconic scene in any Marvel movie when it's all said and done with.

As far as the end goes...
