I wasn't sure if I was going to see the movie but ended up going with a few friends tonight. Yeah the movie was not that good they completely got the character of venom/Eddie wrong.

Re: Venom (2018)
I am in the minority I am sure but I really enjoyed this movie. I went in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. I loved the Venom and Eddie interaction.
I see the complaints about the script being weak but I enjoyed it and it made for a fun afternoon. I will definitely be seeing any sequels.A Rising Storm in the North | Cheese's Eastern Michigan Dynasty (NCAA '12)

Re: Venom (2018)
It's not offensively bad to the point where if it's on TV you turn it off automatically, but I also didn't think it was good. It's enjoyable, very Transformers-esque. I thought it was cool that they mentioned the astronaut that crashed as Jameson, cool nod. Eddie Brock's voice is hilarious to me. The villain is a dork, dude looks like the grown up version of the kid who picked on Peter in Spider-Man Homecoming. Reminded me a lot of the Incredible Hulk, from the fighting a villain that mirrors your abilities so directly to the way it'll always sit in the back of my head as a faint thought like "wow remember when they tried to do a Venom movie?"
It's weird. I kept thinking how crazy it would be to have a Zod movie with no Superman. I'm very in favor of the Mouse's takeover and consolidation of all our favorite heroes. If your hero isn't leaving his movie getting ready to gang up with the rest of the heroes, what's he even doing?
Best part by far was the clip for Into the Spider-verse at the end. The style just looks awesome to me. On that note, it felt like the credits were a half hour long. The mid credits scene was extremely eyeroll inducing IMO. If you know Venom, there was very little doubt who was in the cell, and then he says the word. I hated it lol, just felt corny. The whole experience was reminiscent of Solo, where a movie is being made in a franchise I've adored my whole life, and it just feels unnecessary. Clearly Woody Harrelson is the problem, he's the common denominator.
Just read that Tom Holland is only signed on for 5 movies (Civil War, Homecoming, Infinity War, Avengers 4, Far from Home) and that Sony is building their villain-verse to go try again with another Spiderman franchise. Here we go again.Last edited by DieHardYankee26; 10-10-2018, 11:03 AM.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: Venom (2018)
Saw it last night. Didn't have high expectations going in but I thought it was pretty good. Really funny dialogue between Brock & Venom throughout.
Venom: Outstanding! Now, let’s bite off all their heads and pile them up in the corner.
Eddie Brock: Why would we do that?

Re: Venom (2018)
Saw the movie with my buddies last night, best part of the movie was the Eminem song. Haha I kid (the song is good though). After all the reviews i knew not to expect anything amazing and my buddies and I walked out and said "it was alright."
As much as I think a R rating could of helped it in terms of being more bloody and visceral, the story was pretty bland and bad. The ending scene CGI was pretty bad. That entire fight scene was pretty bad imo. The script was just terrible. I remember when they first announced the film they said it would be aiming for a horror movie feel, sadly they failed at that horribly!!!
I like some comedic moments in my film but this film felt like it was trying too hard to be funny. It does remind me of a time before the recent MCU movies, this would be in the same line as the original Xmen movies.
I seriously doubt they can turn the sequel around and make it what it needs to be, so I'm expecting the sequel to have the exact same format and feel as this one, disappointing.Comment

Re: Venom (2018)
Not only do I think that his is possibly one of the worst super-hero movies in both Marvel and DC's universes, but quite possibly one of the 10 worst movies I've ever seen. This presentation and script is far below the grade level of a Tom Hardy. Either the money was right or he just wanted to be part of the Marvel movie world somehow. I know we fore go reality with these movies, but they need to make "sense" within their own realm. He suddenly knew catch phrases in English after spending a few hours in a human body? So much was just off down to the support cast as well.Comment

Venom went though a number of host at the lab.
Sony didn’t have confidence in the film by not showing any pre screenings until the the day before release so they probably felt the same way as you did but it turned out to be a hit at 823 million worldwide.
I thought it was hilarious but wasn’t a fan of the script and weak villain. I also thought it was a big mistake to have the main fight scene be at night when venom is all black. Anyway, I still had fun watching it.
