If you find it all very confusing than just stick with TNG. You really don't have to know much beforehand and it's a VERY good show. It's my favorite iteration of Trek on TV.


EDIT: for our other Canadian friends out there Space TV will also be airing the After Trek show tonight at 11 and after every episode this season. That's great to hear as I heard that was also on the CBS All Access thing and I was afraid we wouldn't get it.

Is it possible to even just watch this new one that's coming out without having any prior knowledge on past series? If I like this new series enough, might just check out old ones afterwards. Going through the cast lists and everything, only the original series and next generation feature cast and characters I've heard of.

It's being described as a modern prequel. I had heard that this is not set in the JJ-Verse (someone can correct me on that) so I don't know how much knowledge you'll need to have. I'm sure they'll fill people in. They can't just throw audiences into it without some kind of context.

As stated in the Trek thread I really enjoyed what I saw tonight. It's not a perfect show and definitely not in the cerebral vein (it's clearly a plot driven show) but it gets a thumbs up from me.

As stated in the other thread i'm not exactly enamored with the Klingons as religious zealots angle to their warrior society but at the same time it does speak to our modern world. The first 2 episodes served very much as a prologue and springboard us through to the next 13 episodes.

EDIT: I'm watching After Trek and BAM! I'm right. One of the exec producers basically said that the first 2 eps were a cold open/prologue to the rest of the season.

Yeah, LOL.

Quite frankly I don't find Remini's character the least bit interesting. On a superficial note didn't she use to be hot?

Short hook assuming I watch another episode. I can understand Kevin James' explanation of changing the "retired guys just hanging around" format but isn't that kind of a lame reason to kill off a major character and replace her with a reminder of the glory of yesteryear?

So I watched Me, Myself, and I last night. Hrm, I like that they're thinking outside the box by taking 3 different periods in Alex Riley's life and using those events to stitch a narrative but I feel the show would have more focus if they just kept it as a past/present narrative and throw out the future part. (sorry John Larroquette) That being said there were parts that made me laugh though almost every single laugh moment was shown on various commercials except for one. (where Alex and his pal ate weed brownies so Alex can come up with new patent ideas and then they did a jump cut to them sleeping) It doesn't feel like a particularly laugh out loud type of show instead, opting for a bit of a light dramedy feel to it.

There is also a very nice sentiment to the story and you get one of those "morals" type endings that were popular in '80s sitcoms but done in a way that isn't completely shoved down your throat. I will have to give this another episode or two. I like the general feel of the show but dunno if it'll catch on with audiences.

Its pretty simple, the episodes she appeared on at the end of the year where the highest rated of the year. So of course they were going to bring her back.
I love this show, me and my 10 year old never miss it.
With that being said the wife from last year was pretty forgettable.
It cracks me up all of the rage on social media about her death, its a fictional TV show people.

Most people are not as not as they were when they were younger. lol

Absolutely true but some people age a lot better than her. At 47 she's not exactly ancient. LOL, anyway I don't want to look at her.

Is there that much rage on social media? I think it's a simple case of a lot of viewers liking Erin Hayes' character, not whether or not the death was real.

I just read an article on another website that said the decision was made by Kevin James himself. That he likes Leah so much that he wanted her on the show and the other lady off.

They may have been rated high because of the anticipation but, for me, I thought they were some of the worst of the season. I loved KoQ but I just wasn't feeling it. Oh well. Still gonna watch and see if I enjoy it. Just thought it was a strange move.
