    Lion King

Disney showed off a minute of the live action Lion King, and it apparently blew fans away.

Starring Donald Glover as grown Simba, James Earl Jones returning as Mustafa, Billy Eichner as Timon, Seth Rogen as Pumba, James Oliver as Zazu, and Hugh Jackman as Scar.

They're trying to get Beyonce to voice Nala. The New Day (of WWE fame) have expressed their desire to provide voices.

So is Disney gonna remake every single movie as live action? Jungle book, beauty and the beast, Aladdin, lion King and so on. Probably a decade away fromive action Frozen lol.

Yes they are. They're currently casting for the Mulan live-action movie as we speak. Already have a director.

As well as Toy Story 4, Incredibles 2, Frozen 2, The Nutcracker, Wreck It Ralph 2, presumably a live action Dumbo, and one that I've become increasingly excited for, Mary Poppins Returns, starring Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins.

      For future reference

Obviously Disney knows their audience with those movies. The parents of the kids they target were kids during those original release so obviously they'll take their kid to see them.

That's what I thought immediately after reading they wanted in. They would be perfect as the hyenas.

The Jackman as Scar rumor is apparently not true, according to his spokesperson.

At the very least, it has not been confirmed by anyone from the studio.

Forget that. Add some Owls to Lion King so they can do their "WHO?WHO?WHO?WHO?" bit lol.

Just because they express interest doesn't mean they'll be in it at all. Speaking of WWE stars wanting to be in movies, remember when everyone said HHH should've played Thor? How perfect would that have been?

The Mary Poppins Returns movie sounds like a great idea. I'm sure Emily Blunt would hit that out of the park.

I'm not sure what it says about the creativity at Disney Studios when they're remaking their classic animated movies into live action but hey, they'll be swimming in the dough right?

Not just Disney though, that's what we've seen all over the place is just remakes, continuations or alterations of past movies.

At least for the most part those have been good. Even on Disneys side, Jungle Book remake I think was better than the cartoon. Beauty and the Beast I found the live action movie not as good.

This is being made by the same team, with the same (probably better by now) technology.

I have high hopes despite the fact that the Lion King is my favorite Disney movie and I probably shouldn't.

I think a movie like the Lion King, it'll be near impossible to live up to those expectations. Something like Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast, while both are well known, nothing comes close to Lion King.

It's near impossible to remake a classic movie and end up making it close to if not better than the original. Especially for Lion King where its best known for the music in the movie itself.

Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King are the tops for me.

Still, Beauty and the Beast was the first animated picture to be nominated for Best Picture and won for Best Music (Original Song).

Lion king is my all time favorite Disney animated movie so I will have to check this out. So glad James is coming back has his voice is just to good to try to replace. Is Zimmer coming back to do the music? That is my biggest worry right now.

How is this going to be live action exactly? There are no humans in The Lion King from what I recall of the movie (my first theater experience as a two-year old in fact!). Is it basically just going to be a more photo-realistic animation of the original movie?
