Re: Avengers: Infinity War
Russo’s are the best MCU directors. They directed the top 3 MCU films imo and I think Wedon would have checked himself in psyche ward after IW

Re: Avengers: Infinity War
So had a chance to sleep on it, think about things some more and yeah, this is the best Marvel movie so far. They knocked this one out of the park big time.
I'm with DieHard on the only real knock I can give this thing.
SpoilerKnowing the movie slate you kind of feel like you know who's deaths won't stick, but at the same time you don't have a clue how they'll play things. Just because there is a Spider-Man movie coming in 2019 doesn't necessarily mean Peter Parker will be in. Marvel has already let us know that Miles Morales exists in the MCU so if they wanted to, they could take that direction with things. These kind of speculations is what is going to make this wait for part 2 even worse for the next year.
I just can't get over how well done this film was. They hit every one of my expectations. I was glued to the screen every step of the way literally from start to finish. Literally from the opening shot of the movie you feel the seriousness of this thing and the story keeps you engaged the entire way.
SpoilerAs serious as everything was in the film and as high as the stakes are set from the very beginning (I commented to my friends as we were watching that you knew this **** was on when the Marvel Studios intro didn't even have music with it as it normally plays the typical Marvel Studios theme music as it rolls) when we see all the dead Asgardians on the ship. **** just got even more real from the moment Thanos snapped his fingers. The silence in the movie theater and everyone's reactions as the different heroes started to fade away in ashes. The theater I was in just about lost it when T'Challa turned to ash and then when Spider-Man started to turn people were actually crying in the audience. Just an unreal experience watching those final moments of the film and then the way it just ended and started rolling the credits....like...even the damn credits were just different and well done from Marvel.
Some favorite moments off the top of the head...
SpoilerTony and Dr. Strange's interactions were good stuff and fun to see.
The Hulk and Thanos fist fighting on Grandmaster's ship (that was one of his right?) was an awesome visual and Thanos manhandling Hulk was a fantastic way to show how much of a threat he truly was going to be.
Thor and Star-Lord's banter back and forth was hilarious.
The Red Skull?! Dude how great was that reveal? The theater all gasped and then cheered upon seeing him. It was one of the longest running mysteries still in the MCU and I didn't expect an answer to it in this movie and certainly didn't expect it to tie into the location of the Soul Stone.
Speaking of Soul Stone? I wonder if Gamora's days had been numbered at Marvel Studios the entire time that the mystery of where the Soul Stone was located had been going on?
Rocket and Bucky was great. "How much for the gun? How about the arm?" "Oh, I'm getting that arm."
Drax was great yet again.
Star-Lord: "Man, how long have you been standing there?"
Drax: "An hour. I have mastered standing so perfectly still, that I'm invisible. See." Slowly starts reaching into his bag of food and bringing it up to his mouth.
Star-Lord: "Dude you're eating.."
Drax: "But I'm moving so incredibly slowly, I'm invisible. You can't see me."
Mantis walks into the room, "Hi, Drax."
Classic Guardians.
I could go on but I'd be here all day.
Fantastic movie man. Can't wait to go check it out again Sunday night.Last edited by King_B_Mack; 04-27-2018, 11:39 AM.Comment

Re: Avengers: Infinity War
Saw it a 2nd time and yeah I think I was overwhelmed the first time watching it and couldn’t process all the stuff that was going on. Watching it on imax at 8:30 am nerding out could do that to you.
This time I could sit and observe and really analyze each scene.
It flowed much better for me as there so many characters and events to follow. Definitely needs multiple viewings.

Speaking of Strange, to me he's one of the most under rated MCU characters.Mets/Giants/Knicks/Rangers/Manchester United/Notre Dame Football

Re: Avengers: Infinity War
Quick thought
SpoilerI'm sure this may be obvious to some but wanted some input. So Dr. Strange giving the Time Stone to Thanos to save Tony seems quite stupid overall. I mean Stark is smart as hell but why would giving the Stone to Thanos make any sense....well.....ever really?
Right before Strange turns to dust he tells Tony "This is the only way." Or close to that. So is this the 1 in 14+ million scenario that he saw them succeed in? He knew he had to give Thanos the Stone to save Tony because some how he is instrumental to overcoming what will happen? Or as I call it the "Snap heard round the Universe."
It just seems like this couldn't have been a throw away line.Comment

I think my lone disappointment is...
SpoilerHawkeye and Ant Man were hand waved out of the movie due to the Sokovia Accords. I guess it makes sense that it impacted some and they'd be off the board, but not really a fan of how it was handled. Surely they'll be part of the next movie, but I was kinda hoping for something more complex like them being erased from existence, past, present and future, explaining why they weren't even on posters or mentioned in the movie, only appearing briefly at the end or something when that change actually takes place. Perhaps as an early use of the time stone by Thanos.
Maybe that's too much, but was just hoping for a little more.Comment

It just seems like this couldn't have been a throw away line.SpoilerNo, IMO it's clear that Strange's decision was part of the steps of the one chance for them to eventually win.
SpoilerIn my showing, from the last scene to after the end credits, no one got up and left or started talking, everyone just sat in stunned silence. Despite everyone knowing that much of what we saw will be undone, the impact of actually seeing it happen was still really, really strong. I knew Thanos would win at the end of this movie, but his win was even more devastating then I imagined. For me personally every single scene worked. That 2:40 felt like 90 minutes to me.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Re: Avengers: Infinity War
One theory that I saw earlier. Obviously spoilers.
Spoiler
They could use Peter dying as the 'reason' Spider-Man doesn't show up in Venom. Would be cool if they mentioned something about "the Spider dying".Last edited by TripleCrown9; 04-27-2018, 07:06 PM.Boston Red Sox

Re: Avengers: Infinity War
I keep sitting here thinking about that ending.
Spoiler
Whenever I think I'm finally over how it ended, Spider-Man saying through tears "I don't know what's happening, I don't want to go" while Tony rushes to hold him shoots into my head and I just lose it all over again. That was probably the part has me messed up the most. Bucky was shocking, T'Challa was shocking, the Guardians were shocking, but Peter? He was so ****ing scared, man.I'm sitting here crying thinking about it. I care too much about these fictional characters, bruh.
