    He's just a Joker!

Movie gets 2/5 stars from me, just because of the acting! Movie was super low budget and just never got good!
I thought I was the only one who didn't really like the movie lol. The laugh in the trailer I thought was good but I also thought because of what was happing in the trailers that it was just kind of a warm up laugh and that it was going to become even more scary later in the movie but it didn't.

I walked away thinking it was the most bizarre, disturbing, interesting, boring and unique movie I've ever seen.

It drags at times - but I get it: it's an "introspective" type of movie where the individual scenes without dialogue are meant to create emotional pictures.

I think the movie is clearly pushing propaganda - there is the political agenda, and I also felt like he has little to no consequences to his behavior and actions.

Honestly, I think I like Heath Ledger's version of the Joker more because it brought more humor into the darkness and didn't go so heavy on the "victim mindset" presented in this one. They could have cut 15-20 minutes from this movie and actually made it better.

Overall, I felt it was worth my time to see. The door was clearly left open for a follow-up. I don't want to come across like a prude - I did find it interesting. But I wouldn't go overboard with the hype-train.
Largely with you on this. I wouldn't say "most", and wasn't really bored. It's hard to peg-hole this one and that certainly is the aim in terms of making it Phoenix's own unique version. I certainly didn't like the DeNiro casting as once again I think this is a role better served by someone who wasn't an A-lister (but recognizable), plus DeNiro recent public comments doesn't help me and I have a hard time separating that out.

But you can see the involvement Phoenix has in the role, the apparent dedication he made, and bizarre is not foreign to him. The story in and of itself was definitely serviceable, though I'm not really into movies any longer aggrandizing psychopathic/delusional killers (not that I ever was). Then when you look at the Joker for what he is, you consider Batman (my favorite DC character) and ask why can he simply not kill him over all the times he battled him.

Certainly different than Ledger's version, which I agree still stands above this. I didn't get the hype either. I don't even get why the media is bent out of shape about this and giving this movie bad reviews. I don't see them as being "responsible" for helping Joker come to power. I just saw them as reporting what he was doing.

          Re: The Joker 2019

We saw it this past weekend. Joaquin does an amazing job, but outside of him it was really hit and miss when looking back on it. It's definitely a movie I don't need to see again in the immediate future.

They definitely gave this Joker some grounded weight. It would be a shame if they do continue with whatever universe they want to craft without this approach.

Joker has passed The Mask as the most profitable comic book movie of all-time.

It's made nearly 15 times (950mil+) more than what it cost to make (65mil).

That's what I thought, too. I guess I read the last part of your previous post differently.

Somewhere, in a parallel universe, Hollywood understands the definition of “integrity.”

It’s not even about whether or not this will be good. Sooner or later, the slippery slope will open this to being a new DCEU franchise. There is absolutely no need for this. This was a standalone origin story that had one too many Batman connections as is. Don’t worsen what it had already made.

That being said, if it’s made I will likely see it.

                                They're already rebooting it.

Saw a headline the other day that the second Flash movie (correct, the first one hasn't even started production) is being planned to follow Flashpoint and used as a way to introduce Robert Pattinson's Batman into the bigger "DCEU".
