what's the point of these tribe gimmicks if you merge after 3 episodes

It happens every gimmick season. The episode 4 tribe swap (not merge like you said). Look at past seasons, I'm serious, it's episode 4 like 90% of time. This is why survivor needs to throw curveballs at people. Too predictable with timing.

I'll never understand why guys vote out other strong guys pre-merge, especially guys who are annoying and having terrible social games. He would have been a good shield for at least a week. Instead, they keep people who will fly under the radar and are could be bigger threats because the game always turns into "let's get the physical threats out" at merge.

I had no idea there was different terminology for tribe swap and merge lol, I always figured when they go from 3 tribes to 2 tribes it was just considered the first merge, and then from 2 to 1 was the main merge. Good to know

He'd also be more likely to go crazy and cost his former tribe by being a number on the other side. But I never get the physical threat reasoning. Has anyone watched survivor? Physical threats don't win. Colby lost, Ozzy lost, and they're 2 of the best at comps. And even just physical standpoint, so many challenges don't favour physically strong guys, so how are they threats? Can they solve puzzles, go through mazes, stand on narrow objects for long time? Those are the real threats.

Merge is just them becoming 1 tribe. Jeff usually is like "drop your buffs, we're switching things up." during tribe swap. And will say "we are merging" when it's merge.

Season hasn't stood out for me so much. But right now, I'd say Ryan has to be the winner. He's basically the main character of the season.

Ryan, Joe, Jessica final 3 I wouldn't mind.


Also, the fact that everyone knows when a merge is coming is one issue I have with Survivor. Timing is becoming too predictable. Merge at 6 or something lol. Change things up so people can't predict when merge happens or where idol is.

Reward challenges are one of the things that have taken a bit of a hit in the evolution of survivor. Not really noteworthy when it's stuff like this. Even survivor auction which once had meaning was turned into a joke the past few times they had it which is why they stopped.

Reward could be worse. Apparently in first season the reward was a beer or something and contestants were so disappointed, they didn't wanna do it so they had to give bigger reward. Probably why Jeff adopted the "worth playing for?" line.

Always nice to see blindsides in Survivor, but this season still hasn't stood out to me. Still looking like a "tier 3" season (based on my personal rankings in the OP).

Ryan,Lauren have to be 2 of the 3 people in the final based on the edits. Ryan has gotten the ultimate winner edit so far(has been hyped since before the season even began as he was one of main people they showed during last seasons finale), so if he doesn't win, it'd make no sense.

Was really disappointed that Ryan has not figured out that Ben flipped. Between sitting out the challenge and Devin confessing to him that he knows he told Ben, it should be obvious.

Right now, I'm waiting for Devin to get whacked, because he is acting exactly like the over confidant jerk that is amused at how clueless the people he is blindsiding are.

I mean, they have to realize that their new alliance is cracked and screwed, right. They are so solid that they first break off from seven to target one their own. Then, after getting one person out, they hatch a plan to go after on of the new four?

They just lost Mike, because of their hubris. i mean, it was fun watching Joe go, but now Mike realize he is just a dumb puppet deluxe. And truly, he's going to go down as among the rest players ever.

Bummed that Ryan blew his idol, but at least that made sense with what he knows. I really like Lauren, too, so I hope there is a reset in the alliance. This split kind of sucked. But using Ben as a double agent really was a great move, and worked perfectly, so far.

I think it has been a fun season.

I usually barely pay attention to the challenges, for some reason they don't do much for me, the social interactions are more my thing, but man when Chrissy got to the puzzle at the end of the challenge I had to sit up to see if she'd breeze through it, that woman is as smart as it gets. I feel like she has no chance to win, but watching everyone try and figure out the puzzle and then she caught up after being way behind and just obliterating through it lol, it was kinda sexy :o

speaking of Ryan, he should be forced to wear clothes, I can't even look at him

I was really hoping that the new alliance was going to flip on Ben but Ryan would play his idol for him due to the info that Ben was giving him as a double agent. That would have been amazing.
