Re: Mindhunter (Netflix)
I can't disagree enough, although maybe it's because the bar season 1 set was so high. I'm about 3 episodes in and it doesn't have the same visceral punch. Of course, I'll watch the whole thing and see how it impacts at that point....hoping that this is a slow build. I don't understand the whole sub-plot for Dr. Carr's relationship and why this was brought in and where it fits. Possibly yet to be revealed.
Of course, Mr. 7 Languages has to remind you all of this guy:

But even if the relationship was an aside we can't give the lovely doctor some companionship?Comment

Re: Mindhunter (Netflix)
Spoileras a deviance and Wendy had to correct him by quoting the DSM? Even when in her first interview Wendy "pretends" to be gay? This all happened in episode 3! By the way Smith did not know of her sexual orientation he was talking about a mindest or relationship of a particular case.
I think you have to care or want to care about the main characters. It's got to be more than having a glimpse into the mind of the deranged. The three main leads are based on real characters but so loosely (the real Dr. Carr is married with children and is actually Dr. Burgess) they are basically a blank slate. I considered Wendy and theSpoilerbarmaid a big plus not a distraction or a deficit.
I would have liked to see Wendy help outSpoilerwith Bill's kid.Comment

Re: Mindhunter (Netflix)
I understand the "caring" or identifying with the main characters, but there needs to be some intrigue, like Bill's son's situation. 6 episodes in so far and the relationship for Wendy just seems like as much wasted script as it does for Ford's relationship problems in season 1. It was forgettable.Comment

SPOILER NEAR THE VERY END OF THE SECOND SEASON
SpoilerI thought the final breakup blow delivered by Wendy was particularly hard-hitting if not a little unfair.Comment

Re: Mindhunter (Netflix)
Just finished season 1 and can't really say enough good things about this show. Really well put together. Good acting. Very well paced. An intriguing premise. Not at all boring. A nice period piece of the late 1970s. Some choice tunes (Exile, Alan Parsons Project, Led Zeppelin) used very well. Actually believable dialogue (I really dislike shows that make people talk unlike how people actually speak with one another). Quite the cliffhanger though to end the season.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: Mindhunter (Netflix)
Man, season 2 has some really heavy stuff....even for a show about serial killers. Love the whole dynamic of the team. Holden is a little awkward and doesn't let the dark nature of his work get to himSpoileroutside of his panic attack which didn't really play as big a part in season 2 as I thought it would.....not necessarily the worst thing
Great stuff. Curious to see where the go in season 3 (assuming there will be one...I don't think it's been confirmed yet.)SpoilerObviously Bill's personal story-line was left wide open, but it seemed like the Atlanta story-line was wrapped up as nicely as it could have been (wow what a mess), Holden doesn't have anything going on personally, and Wendy just ended here relationship. The BTK stuff is interesting, but as other's have said they'll have to jump forward pretty quickly to document his captureChicago Cubs
Michigan Wolverines

Mindhunter (Netflix)
Season 2 seemed to end sort of abruptly when me and my wife were watching it. After reading up on what happened with the Atlanta killings in the years that followed it made more sense.
I hope there isn't another big delay before season 3.Go Yankees
Go Rangers
Go Giants

Re: Mindhunter (Netflix)
Just finished and pretty much stand by what I already said. It's just that season 1's bar was so high. The relationship side story for Wendy was a waste of celluloid. I would have rather seen her in work/interview interactions for the intrigue. I think that whole thing was largely a PC move on Netflix part. Also, do we know if this is truly how the series of events went down, meaning the team that literally started this whole new field of study for the FBI and crime investigation was brought into helping solve the Atlanta children murders? By itself it wasn't a bad season, but largely had a network TV detective feel to it vs. a specialty streaming service delivery.Comment
