Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever. -
Re: Movie Rumors
Who the hell are they gonna have in the Bruce Lee role? There are SOME movies that shouldn't be remade whether because they're so iconic or they're absolute gems of Hollywood history. This fits more into the former than the latter. Why sully such a film with what will turn out to be a ho-hum and crappy experience?Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Movie Rumors
An apparent r rated home alone style movie could be happening. Called Stoned Alone, produced by Ryan Reynolds.
This sounds so bad it might be good. But I want to see a real home alone return. Kevin as the robber this time (Imo, he was the villain last time. If he just called 911, nothing bad happens in the movie. Instead, he opted for torture and house destruction)Comment

Re: Movie Rumors
Tom Cruise is reportedly close to signing on for Green Lantern. Just waiting for some changes to be made to the script.
And by changes to the script, he's probably waiting for them to write in a running scene.Boston Red Sox

Re: Movie Rumors
That being said, he's the exact kind of actor/personality for the role and he looks young enough to be early 40s which is how I always pictured Hal to be.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Movie Rumors
As much as I am entertained to watch Tom Cruise in recent films, it's hard to watch a film and not say: "I'm looking at Tom Cruise." The exception of course is Tropic Thunder.
So if he is Hal Jordan, he won't be Hal Jordan. He will be Tom Cruise.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Movie Rumors
Not a fan of this choice, but if they do it I hope they don't go through with his script change. At least that way, it'll be short lived.
Doesn't even seem real tbh, need Variety or THR or someone to confirm.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

There are NO movies that shouldn't be remade.
I've never understood that mentality. I've always been on John Campea's side when it comes to remakes,

How can you possibly know that a film that hasn't even been made yet will turn out to be a ho-hum and crappy experience?

Re: Movie Rumors
Well Cap'n it's simple. I've seen enough remakes, reboots and reimaginings of movies in my life to know that more often than not the latter film is almost always inferior. Now, i'll grant you there have been flicks made that compare favorably and yes, even better than the source but it's a small percentage.
The 3 best remakes in Hollywood history IMO have come before the 2000s in no particular order:
- The Maltese Falcon (there were TWO versions before the famed Bogart film)
- The Magnificent Seven (basically transporting Kurisawa's Seven Samurai to North America in a Western setting)
- Scarface (a great modern updating of the original 1932 film which I LOVE. I actually think they're both on a par with each other but a lot of people who aren't into classic Hollywood/not old enough have no clue that it's a remake)Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Movie Rumors
Yeah I agree JTK, remakes can be hit or miss but like Campea always says it doesn't take away the original, it doesn't get erased from existence. What it does do is bring new people to the old films and that's always a positive.
These movies are stories and stories are meant to be retold. There could be a whole new way of telling it and it could be great like The Jungle Book or The Departed.
It always irks me too when people say that there is no more originality in Hollywood. I see a ton of original movies every year, most people decide not to watch them like Oscar worthy films.Comment

Re: Movie Rumors
I still say there are NO films that shouldn't be remade. As small as that percentage may or may not be, there's always a chance a remake might turn out to be great. And that's good enough for me. So go ahead and remake ANYTHING.
But say a remake does turn out to be bad. So what? How does that "sully" the original? How does it negatively affect the original in any way?Boston Red Sox
