Well, I guess the pitch / planning could've gone something like this....

This movie has to be taken for what it is.
It isn’t dark it isn’t serious.
The closest example I can give this is this.
        1966 Batman movie.
That’s what this movie reminded me off.
It’s cheesy, campy and does not take itself seriously at all.

As zany and campy as the Batman series and movie was - at least they explained their logic (no matter how illogical it was in reality) regularly.

            I don't think it's quite THAT campy...

I was thinking more along the lines of the Christopher Reeves Superman movies (Superman 3, in particular, stands out to me).

So much of WW1984 reminds me of how I would react now to superhero/sci-fi movies from the 80s. Put differently, if this movie had come out in the 1980s, it would have been freakin' amazing...but viewed through the lens of the 2020s, it may still be fun...but it feels a bit dated.

I had fun with the film but it's not one I feel like I'll watch over and over.

Yeah it was campy. Agree with Josh. Felt like Superman 3 a lot which for me (Superman 3) aged a lot better than when it first was released (it was panned and a bomb). Richard Pryor was classic as was Robert Vaughn. And Superman’s inner battle with the crappy Kryptonite (Pryor had a missing element and stuck in.....nicotine to fill it in lol).

Anyway my gripe with WW84 was simply the story was weak.

The first movie was great. And I loved the tone of it. The story was excellent and the time period was too.

I also do not think the movie did a great job of making me feel like I was in the 80’s. It was alright.

              Again not horrible. A 6/10.

The villains had very strong performances despite dealing with a really weak script.

I would normally never watch this, but as there is so little 4K content available, I may end up checking it out....
