Re: Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)

I attributed to Fury being out of touch with him being Snapped. At least that's what the character said in the beginning of the film. I guess we can trust him? It's a weird reveal to show as a bonus scene outside of the movie - especially when we were worried about imposters anyway.

Its hard for me to look back at the film and it not being Fury in those scenes - especially when he is in Peter's hotel room and on the phone repeatedly. These Skrulls are very dedicated actors.

I also agree with you on the push for Spidey to be the new Iron Man. Those are the parts I enjoyed the least.

Talos as Fury made sense to me. Fury seemed "off" the entire the movie.

Outside of the beginning he seemed "normal", but of course having that scene at the end is going to change your perspective no matter what.

Does anybody remember the "coded" message Happy gave to Fake-Fury? Does it have any meaning outside of the movie?

Fury seemed more angry to me. I remember watching the movie and thinking they're really pushing Fury's shtick of not taking any ****. Maybe it was just me 🤷🏾*♂️

I think Happy knew that Fury wasn't Fury which was apart of the reason for the codes message.

He mentioned surfboard so I don't know if that was a shoutout to somebody or not lol. You know how these movies can be peppered with random call backs and easter eggs.

I thought Fury was (rightfully) annoyed because Peter kept dodging him and Happy can be a little annoying at times. Then of course Peter being a child and not ready to step up to the Iron Man mantel(though I can't remember if these scenes were strictly Mysterio or not).

Re: Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)

The movie was great. I found it to be way better than the first one.

I avoid watching all trailers so nothing gets spoiled or hints at anything.

I know Mysterio is the villain, and at first I thought he was the villain pretending to be the hero, but then they had him on the good guys side with a believable backstory and I actually believed him. I thought they were doing some weird twist like making his character a hero since they were emphasizing his real name over Mysterio name.

I was shocked but not shocked when he revealed his plan to take the glasses. Funny in a way how the same actor who was in the world ending catastrophic Day After Tomorrow movie was the one creating a fake world ending event.

MJ was better in this movie. Being the sarcastic lone wolf type character works well.

The mid and end credit scenes were crazy. I wasn't expecting either of those. I know in some versions JJJ knows who Spiderman is, but I've always been use to the Peter working at the Daily Bugle and JJJ never knowing he was Spiderman. This time around it should be interesting to see how that goes.

Especially in this case because the younger Peter has friends and a family, compared to other versions where it seems like outside of Aunt May and his love interest, he has nobody else really close.

I'm not saying we haven't heard of the concept of alternate universes before or that shows/movies/comics haven't dived into that before (which that is DC, by the way), I was just giggling at the concept of the sentence: "He says he is from an alternate universe, seems legit."

While space and time travel had been explored in the MCU, alternate universes hadn't. Just because weird things have happened, doesn't mean that it totally makes sense that something unrelated is believable.

Although I was half-joking (especially since Into the Spider-Verse just came out a few months before), my point was if that is a version of something that's believable, I can't come up with something that would be rendered "unbelievable."

That's what makes this genre different. You can be like "Don't worry, he's from a parallel universe." and it seems fine.

Someone can come back to life after they die and it's fine too.

I'm not sure what would ever be considered unbelievable in these kind of movies. Thanos can return and it wouldn't be the most unrealistic thing ever....

When I first heard the FFH title, I was fully expecting this to mean it happens in space. Again, given this genre, is that so farfetched?

Given what the MCU has shown? No. They've included space since Thor.

However, when I watched the first Iron Man movie, something like Thor was the last thing on my mind when it came to inclusion of otherworldly things. I would have called it unrealistic then.

Before Into the Spider-Verse, yes I would have said that being from an alternate universe was hard to believe. Again, just because you've seen resurrections and talking animals doesn't mean everything else is conceivable.

I was really half-joking, anyway. Yes, in this universe any of it is believable. It's just weird that that's where we're at with it. I guess stating you believed it was almost redundant to the point, because apparently anything he said "would have been believable." That's what I was getting at.

It certainly appears that Jamie Foxx is returning as Electro in Tom Holland's third movie.
