People my age and younger just don't realize how much of an icon Reynolds was. The man was the BIGGEST star on the planet throughout the '70s and early '80s. He was one of the most charismatic and entertaining guys out there. I always find something to enjoy in just about any movie he starred in.

        Yeah they are classics.

Also remember The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas with Dolly Parton and Dom DeLuise as a good film along with the Longest Yard. Loved him on Tv shows such as Evening Shade, Hollywood Squares and Win, Lose Or Draw.

        R.I.P. Burt.

I wasn't even born to see Burt in his prime but he was in one of my favorite childhood movies (All Dogs Go to Heaven) and this:

Also The Longest Yard is one of my favorite sports movies of all time.

            Good ole Paul Crewe.

            RIP Burt, loved your movies.

Sharkey's Machine was a under rated movie that introduced Rachael Ward to everyone.

                      Re: Burt Reynolds has died.

when I got in my car this afternoon after work, on the radio the locals were telling a story about Burt in Deliverance. First they used a dummy in a canoe going over the waterfall but Burt said it looked too fake. So he got in the canoe to take it over the waterfall himself to make it look more authentic. Needless to say, he got banged up really good and had to go to the hospital. When the director came to visit him, Burt asked how the shot looked. The director said, like a dummy in a canoe.

He turned down Hans Solo, Willis' Die Hard role, and James Bond.

He's certainly better known for his work in the 1970s and 1980s, but I really enjoyed him in Boogie Nights.

It's a damn shame that movie didn't do for Reynolds what some of Eastwood's directorial efforts did for him. Although that movie made money it was viewed as a disappointment and Reynolds was personally hurt by the fact that it didn't quite take. It's not the easiest movie to watch mainly due to the somewhat slow middle portion but it's a fine piece of film making and if it had been more successful I think it could've led to Reynolds having stronger creative control over his projects and working in the director's chair.

He was never quite the same after that film really.

Definitely a favorite. If you haven't had a chance to see his last movie which is clearly his swan song, I would highly recommend it: The Last Movie Star.

Especially now. RIP to Paul Crewe....they never needed to remake you.

By the way, he played Doug Heffernan's high school coach on King of Queens season 7, episode 14.
