BTW little known Burt Reynolds fact for you: He played in the Sun Bowl in the '50s and in 1977 he was the third man in the booth for the ENTIRE game. It's one of the treasures of my sports broadcast collection. If you're okay with late '70s college ball you can find the game on youtube.

Re: Burt Reynolds has died.
This 1:30 video with Burt on the Carson show with Dom Delouise is hysterical, but for today, it could be deemed NSFW.
Listen to Delouise laughing hysterically in the background.

Re: Burt Reynolds has died.
RIP to a legend.
This isn't the thing that most people bring up when talking about Burt Reynolds but me and my friend in high school found these commercials funny.

Re: Burt Reynolds has died.
Apparently Reynolds never watched Boogie Nights. I don't blame him. I actually saw it for the first time today and thought largely it was trashy and poorly constructed. It was wild to see all of the familiar acting faces in what was probably one of their first efforts. But as a movie it was largely garbage. And what was up with that ending?
Burt Reynolds hated ‘Boogie Nights’ so much that he fired his agent afterwardComment

Re: Burt Reynolds has died.
I liked it a lot including Reynold's performance. Burt was simply uncomfortable with the subject matter and although he didn't love his association with the film he was on hand to pick up his Golden Globe and showed up on Oscar night. I did not know he refused to campaign for the movie.Comment

Someone mentioned The Last Movie Star (2017) I checked the trailer out yesterday and it looks rather elegiac. It's a comedy/drama but you can tell there's a lot to this little indy film that hits close to him. It seems like the Vic Edwards character is a very thinly veiled version of Burt himself. I will definitely have to check out the full film.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Burt Reynolds has died.
Ya, I was pushing guys to watch Reynolds' last flick. I remember watching it going, man, he just doesn't look good. Wondered if he was acting the part or if his lifestyle just took its toll. Seems like it was the latter.
Always thought of him as if there would be guys outside his circles who could easily not like him, his machismo, good looks, Cosmo spread. But, it seemed like he honestly did not take himself too seriously and had a great sense of humor.Last edited by daflyboys; 09-09-2018, 11:19 AM.Comment

Re: Burt Reynolds has died.
If you like, you should check out this video from the SAG-AFTRA foundation released after Reynolds' death but recorded in '06. It's a nearly 2 hr Q&A with Burt.

Seriously......the movie was hysterical. I loved it. A classic. Different strokes for different folks.
I guess growing up in the late 70’s and 80’s and stealing my dads VHS and Beta porn stash and seeing movies like the one this film had.....had me in stitches. So many great performances in this movie.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 09-10-2018, 08:08 PM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Burt Reynolds has died.
This reminds me of a major female star and I'm totally blanking on her name now but early in her career she did an exploitative/sex type movie and one of the people involved in that movie later in life was working on the set of one of her films. He was all "hey remember me? We worked on so and so?" and she totally blew him off and "forgot" that she was involved in any such thing.
Actors can be a funny lot sometimes and having things that don't exactly shine a bright light on them in their resume often become embarrassing. To me, if i'm a major actor I'd embrace everything that was part of my career good or bad.

Re: Burt Reynolds has died.
I don't think you would know that unless you're in that situation. For example, if you're Marky Mark in that movie and wore the prosthetic appendage and then years later your teenager watches that movie for the first time, you're gonna be okay with that?Comment

Re: Burt Reynolds has died.
Well, of course you're going to differ with me. Lends to a bunch of questions for you which I'm not going to get into as you just decided to pop into this thread now, which is interesting.
The bottom line actually is, it doesn't matter what we would do or not do. Reynolds had a problem with the content (and with the director); Wahlberg had come out recently about his apparent guilt surrounding the role. Clearly it questions their values and morals and they've voiced their regrets.
Regardless, The Longest Yard and Deliverance are tied for me as to the best Reynolds movies. Difficult to pick one over the other since they are in such distinct categories.Comment
