Unless the writers want Megan Boone out or she wants out my bet is she will be the good guy in the end. Might take till the end of next season but that is my WAG.

That’s just it-I don’t know what they want with Boone or if she’s still committed to the show.Comment

Re: The Blacklist Starring James Spader
I'm now caught up from this week and last.
Regarding last week's episode (The Russian Knot), what the hell was up with the stupidity of every FBI agent in not even taking a guess that those numbers were coded for the alphabet? The exact moment I saw numbers come out, that was the first thing that came to mind. When I didn't see a number above 30, I all but knew that.
Granted, it didn't end up being the English alphabet which was a nice little "turn," so they should have went with that in the first place: don't have our agents appear as morons, and meanwhile let them be let down when they attempted what should have been the obvious not be as so. The writers made a big stink out of it three times though as if their being caught off-guard was an indication of it being cleverly coded or something. I felt pretty undermined as a viewer at that moment.
Also, didn't they have the most sophisticated analog codebreaking device in the world right in the tip of their hands? Are you saying that it can decrypt a ciphered message that has trillions of combinations, but it can't recognize that A = 1 and P = 16 if you crunch those numbers back in?
I just thought that part of the episode was a lot of wasted filler, and did not match the intelligence of the characters for a second (for all that they were doing outside of that). But the double-heist was fun (reminded me of National Treasure) and the moment between Reddington and Emma Foster was emotionally heart-wrenching for Red, and I really felt that moment.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Yes and no. The output has to be read but a replacement cipher would still be hard to guess because it could be anything. The machine could also switch the replacement if it was setup that way. Being that the security was in the possession of the device, decrypting wasn't that much of a priority.
The FBI also isn't full of code breakers. While yes it should be simple for them to guess, it doesn't mean they will do it.

Numbers to letters wasn't the first thing that came to mind? Granted the use of the Cyrillic alphabet was a switch but isn't Jimmie Boy supposed to be Russkie?

Re: The Blacklist Starring James Spader
I was never a big fan of Megan Boone anyway and while I think the show is still great it feels like it is time to wrap it all up. Surprised they decided to go with another year regardless of the Liz character leaving or not.Comment

As far as going another season the network made the calculation that Megan is quite expendable.Comment

Re: The Blacklist Starring James Spader
For me it's not so much Boone's acting as it is the character's inconsistencies. I can't even criticize her apparent lack of devotion to the show-the heart wants what the heart wants.

Spader can carry the show it is still very good and the last episode was well done. Looking forward to what they do next year.Comment

Re: The Blacklist Starring James Spader
I already said this before, but I liked having Liz, just without the baggage (the kid, the “mom,” etc.).

With the opening I wouldn't mind Panabaker becoming the other female series regular.Comment

Re: The Blacklist Starring James Spader
I did not expect that ending.
SpoilerDespite everything that has been mentioned here, even still.
And I ****ing cried.
Although it was unsatisfactory, it was still a beautiful season finale.Last edited by Blzer; 06-25-2021, 12:46 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

That is the way to go out but it might have been nice if Red told Liz the story. Wait till next year I guess.Comment
