As I said, from sacrificing nearly everything to save the realm in E3 to Mad Queen in E5. Hard to buy that.
Dany going all Anakin Skywalker does makes a lot of sense for her arc but needed to be better executed. She was pursuing a strange throne in a strange land; she's learning it may not be all she'd hoped it would be. She's lost all of her advisors and has been betrayed by nearly everyone. But we needed a little more desperation for her to get to Mad Queen status, a little more rock bottom, a little more "I have to do this" when it comes to burning Kings Landing. Her voluntarily murdering thousands of innocent civilians doesn't sit well.
It seems like that's going to be a theme here to wind down the series: there are no heroes and (apparently) we can undo years worth of character development in one scene or one episode and characters will turn selfish as hell at their most desperate moments. Jamie went back to square one, or arguably even lower than he'd ever been. Dany turned into everything she vowed never to be. Tyrion flipped back to "family first", just like Jamie. Jon at least remains his aloof self.
