C'mon, you know what Hollywood is doing, correct? There are 999 other 3 digit codes they could use in this scenario. Of course, none is more recognizable than "007", clearly. At every turn, they seem to be pandering to the female actors who are crying pay inequality. Just look at the stable of movies that have come out or are scheduled to come out. It's truly way too obvious.

This is going to be the way of Marvel over the next 10-20 years as well.

I don't see this as "PC" move, though. It will certainly catch attention and start discussion which is obviously the point. Without knowing what happens in the movie I'm not going to lump this in the same category as those other recent recasts.

Yeah, it's too early to say anything more about this. Maybe Lashana ends up being an awesome character, maybe not. I know money almost always brings people back, but Daniel Craig can't do these forever and they were going to have to move on from him as the star at some point.

          ...

lol at "pandering to the female actors"
          By giving them work.

This has nothing to do with Lashana at all or her abilities. She might be a great actress. I have no idea. Of course, Craig can't do it forever. Neither could Connery or anyone. That's of no consequence here.

The "pandering" comment has nothing to do with "giving them work". You're implying that I said that females are being kept from work. It's in regards to recent stipulations and accusations made by reps of female actors. We've all seen it.

Re: 007 is now a woman

John Wick and Toy Story stepped into this pool as well, but they disguise it well enough with its storytelling that it's not so jarring when it happens.

And yes, we don't know how this movie will do what it does. Maybe she dies. It's DC's last JB film regardless, but we don't know what happens is all.

Regardless, you can possibly point to this as being a reason Boyle stepped down/was cast out from the screenplay process and any such "creative differences," and led to his departure from directing this.

Still don't know why Eve can't just be the 007 agent instead of another incomer, though.

Re: 007 is now a woman

I bet if they would have just given her a different agent number rather than the 007 moniker no one would care that much about her being the new hero going forward. I had similar thoughts when Idris Elba was rumored to play him. I mean 007 isn't the only agent at MI6. IMO with the exception of Casino Royale I have never been intrigued to watch one of Craig's Bond films more than once. I thought Batista's scenes in Spectre were truly the best parts of that film and I had hopes he would be a recurring bad guy in the franchise moving forward similar to Jaws..
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

I've seen it, yeah. And you didn't say females should be kept from working, that's true too. But female actors asking for more money wasn't part of the conversation going on here, you just kinda threw that in there with this other stuff.

This would've been the "least likely to make news" option so clearly it was ignored.

Your point is taken but all agents in the books start with 00.

I figure this is just a one-off one & done. next Bond movie 007 will be a dog. or a little mermaid. In any event, as per blzr sorta touched on, this idea is a day late and a euro short. the best female secret agent is Atomic Blonde. and her love scenes with Blonde girls are better than 007's with Bond Girls. give me more Theron & Goodman

The last line of the article says something like Bond has to adjust to the "metoo" world.

Bond is in retirement. Gets called back because new 007 can't handle it without him. He hits on her at some point, she isn't interested, and then they work together and save the world.

                            That is the movie script.

The movie is fine as long as they don't cast her as 007 and try to pass the torch off. Cast her as her own character because as soon as you make her 007, she is then playing that character and it won't be like the character has always been.

This is a little different. She's more of a device for the "unretirement" of James Bond. Daniel Craig will still be front and center to the story. There is no "Jane Bond."
