The Boys (Amazon)

Thought I would break this out in its own thread since we were talking about it a lot in the Amazon thread.

Its now one of my favorite shows and can't wait for next season.

To get an idea what its about "The Boys" is world with Super heroes but portrayed as celebrities who are funded and monetized by a powerful company Vought and the top team in this company is the 7. They aren't your typical heroes, they are arrogant, vile and some down right evil.

The Boys are a group that are tired of their **** and work together to take down the company as they expose who they really are.

Its graphic and some subjects they discuss can be cringy but i love it. The banter between Butcher and everyone else to the how crazy the 7 are is just some great tv.

The show is definitely not for everyone but I suggest if you're fine with the first 10 minutes of the show I think you'll really enjoy it.

Replaced it.

I'm kinda torn between whether I want to read the comics or just stick with the show. Just being on the sub for a few days I've already had the comics spoiled and don't really mind it, might be worth checking out.

I want to see how they're going to pull off Stormfront. I loved Aya Cash in You're the Worst, this will certainly be an interesting role if they use the comic back story.

Personally i like the show better than the comic. The comic is the most graphic comic i ever seen and sometimes down right disgusting. Like to the point i had to put it down because i couldn't believe Garth thought of it. But its so crazy you just keep going.

I like all the changes they did too in the show. It also was really well directed and the acting was awesome.

Saw an article the other day about the guy who played The Deep was up for the Captain America role. Can't imagine him pulling that off with his lack of height and size.

Yeah I agree though I was surprised to see an interview with Anthony Starr who plays Homelander, he’s pretty thin. He must be wearing a muscle suit.

Show is so awesome, finished it last weekend. I can't wait for a season 2. It's the first show on Amazon Prime i've actually completed.

There's something about Homelander that I find so interesting. Maybe it's because i'm such a huge Superman fan. Homelander is like an inverted version of Superman. One who in public stands for everything Superman stands for, however is deeply disturbed in the inside and puts fear in the eyes of all those around him. Plan Anthony Starr is amazing in that role.

He never seems to take it off....well, especially from the waist up.


But, yes, the actor is pulling this off perfectly. Great study in sociopathy to a degree. He's not psychotic as previously mentioned. I find this series more intriguing than any DC movie other than Ledger's depiction of The Joker.

I know we have a general Amazon shows thread, but as a side note here, I would recommend Patriot for the guy here that said he never made it through a series. It's action dramody for sure. I enjoy its quirkiness and I don't like all things quirky.

Watched the complete first season in 2 days, just couldn't stop watching!

The show knocks it out the park, episode after episode! Season 2 is going to feel like forever coming out!

And I love it and can't wait.
