The Nun II comes out on a week. Hope it does not disappoint. The first one was strong.

Oof, I haven't seen the first Nun film in a while but I walked away unimpressed, at least compared to other films in the Conjuring universe.

I believe I praised the set design though. I'll have to read my own impressions again.

It won't stop me from seeing this one at all however. I can't say I'm excited per se (especially since I haven't seen any trailers), but I'll be there for its opening and hope it's great.

The setting and protagonist was enough for me to enjoy The Nun, although yeah, was disappointing compared to some of the other great movies in the Conjuring Universe.

Still. I’m excited for the sequel. FWIW, initial reactions were positive.

Just watched Cobweb. It's definitely a slowburn and there's one scene that will creep you out but other than that, I was kinda bored halfway through.

We saw The Nun 2 this past Tuesday night.

7/10

We really enjoyed it and it was a lot better than the original. Another case of where a sequel exceeds the original.

Well paced story.

Great acting.

We also saw the preview for the new Blum House Exorcist.

It looked insane. We are definitely seeing that.

$5 movies anytime on Tuesdays at the Paragon Theater. Brand new theater, totally modern one too. Can’t beat that price.

If you have Shudder then check out The Angry Black Girl and her Monster, a modern day telling of Frankenstein. It's pretty good with some scary bits, a really well written movie that speaks to racial issues as well as just plain old scares.

Well, I'm not sure how the heck they can keep making them but Saw X is pretty good. It might be the most brutal movie in the whole series.

The deaths are long, painful and graphic. If you have a weak stomach or don't like seeing people in extreme pain, then stay far, far away.

If you've enjoyed any of the past films then this one is right up your alley.

Yeah, that aspect was great too.

Although, it did leave me feeling a little queasy rooting for John and Amanda. His - and by extension her - questionable 'moral compass' made me feel similarly to Don't Breath 2. Using a child to make us "root" for villains - or anti-heroes if going by the intentions of the writers - is kind of gross.
