I give her credit for going through and getting an advanced degree, but her knowledge base is very narrowly focused. Not that there's a trivia knowledge requirement for hosting the show, but if that's what's giving her an edge to get a look, it seems at least somewhat relevant.

Bialik made one of the biggest comebacks in TV history. Not too far removed from Big Bang she was a contestant on a reality makeover series representing the stereotypical D-List celebrity. She has certainly been lucky as of late.

I never realized she fell off like that. I just figured she was a kid actor, once she was done she went to school, then just got back into acting.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Blossom reunion though. Her and Joey Lawrence were obviously big names in the 90s, I think they wanted to do a new series but it never happened.

But getting back on topic, Burton would be the very easy fan fave choice. Even if his time as host supposedly wasn't the best of everyone who guest hosted, no matter who gets picked, there's good and bad about how that person does the job.

I have no idea why LeVar Burton is getting so much love for the Jeopardy gig. I like LeVar as much as anyone and he was a big part of my childhood pop culture sensibilities as the longtime host of "Reading Rainbow", but there's no reason that stands out to me why he should be hosting Jeopardy. I mean, I'm fine with it if he gets the job but he didn't stick out as someone that would make a whole lot of sense (vs anyone else) to me.

Twitter isn't real life. I don't think most Jeopardy viewers are really that invested.

People online decided he'd be the best at it before they even saw him do it and they can't go back on that now.

Like you, I'd be 100% fine if he got it, but he didn't stand out as an undeniable clear-cut pick vs others. I only saw one of his episodes though, maybe I missed something. Of what I saw of the first guest host run, he falls into the handful of "yeah, they did alright" options to choose from.

He was rough around the edges while guest-hosting, but I guess that's just being new to it. I'm sure he would improve over time, but he didn't win me over in his run at all.

100%. I don't know how long it's going to take people to realize that Twitter/online sentiment is not even remotely representative of real life, but the answer is apparently longer than I thought.

So now Richards is completely out as Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune EP.

This thing really went downhill fast.

When does filming for Jeopardy begin back? They no longer have a host, who was one of their main people in charge, and he's no longer part of the show at all.

I'm not saying the things he said weren't inappropriate, but I think I'm afraid step into the spotlight one of these days... because I know there are things I've said that will oust me as somebody that I'm not, or as somebody that I was and no longer am, or as somebody that is not akin to how I care to represent myself.

Everyone's out to taint everyone else's legacy now. I guess they should just go hostless like the Oscars. Maybe get IBM's Watson in there.

Kinda weird to imagine a hypothetical situation to be concerned about instead of just dealing with these situations as they happened.

Guy said some ****ty things and suffered the consequences for it - his bosses decided that his comments were bad enough and/or he wasn't important enough to keep.

All I meant is we're in an age now where you just don't have a chance. If you said it, you're cooked. It's out there, and someone will find it.

Again, not excusing him or ABC's actions. I was speaking a little more outwardly than that, and using him as an example. When he was behind the curtain, nobody gave a ****. He would still have his job if he didn't push for the more public one (whether he deserved it or is a good person or whatever is a different story).

Agree to disagree, I guess. If something's out there it'll be found, but consequences vary.

Again, not excusing him or ABC's actions. I was speaking a little more outwardly than that, and using him as an example. When he was behind the curtain, nobody gave a ****. He would, but at the same time it's not like everyone was aware of these comments back then, decided they were fine, then changed their mind about it.

So a negative story comes out with info that was unknown to a lot of people (negative press is nothing new, especially when people are "new" to the public eye), then the employer decides what, if any, consequences there would be from this information. In this case, he was let go.

I'm fine with it being an employer/employee decision.

So..Ken Jennings will join in as a host for the remainder of the year.

However, he WON'T be the permanent host as the search is still ongoing.......

The fact they they can't even find a replacement makes me wonder what kind of initial search they did, if any. Surely if this was done properly, they'd have had a #2 choice. Seems like there was only ever 1 choice, and now that it blew up in their face, they have to do an actual search.

Yeah, if they're already penciling him in for the rest of the year I'd bet on them just leaving him as host.
