That was good. It's much better than his Crossroads cover.

Thrice - Eleanor Rigby. Probably my favorite cover of all time.

I'm probably gonna get killed for this one, but The Fugees' version of "No Woman, No Cry" blows Marley's away.

Re: Covers Good or Better Than Original?

read through this thread, surprised a couple songs werent mentioned...

Obadiah Parkers acoustic cover of Outcasts Hey Ya...

A number of covers of Hallelujah, notably John Cale's (his version, which was a cover itself, is the version that most subsequent covers were done from) and Jeff Buckley's (personally not my cup of tea, but there are tons of people out there who think its amazing, and its completely unique, so I give it credit)

personally, I also love DMB's cover of the Zombies Time of the Season (played live, it was on one of their DVD's... you can youtube it if you want to see it).

Johnny Cash's version of Hurt is also great (did see this one was mentioned a few times). Ironically I wasn't a big fan of the NiN original, and i'm not really a big Cash fan either, but put them together and imo it is great. That song was just made for an old Cash near the end of his days

oh, and how can I forget, Somewhere Over the Rainbow/Wonderful World by Israel Kamakawiwo'Ole (there is just a track w/ Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and then there is the combo track that also has Wonderful World combined with it)

              absolutely fantastic song

and of course, nearly all of Sublime's songs were covers (or at least heavily sampled) and they are pretty much all great

I got through 5 pages of this thread before my anger level caused me to just post this - Worst. Thread. Ever. That's all I'll say.

haha, that was one of the only posts I didn't know what song it was because I didn't click on the links and you didn't post the name

literally there was like 1 other post maybe that did that

just my luck lol... good call though. It's almost hard to call it a cover though, when it changes the original song so much

I love both versions. I like Weddle's version when I'm drinking and lounging.

I like Thrice, and that cover.

I like Michael Jackson's "Come Together" a whole lot.
