I haven't heard the Clapton cover. I'll have to check it out.

Check out Failure's "Enjoy the Silence" cover of Depeche Mode's original track.
Also Gary Jules covering Tears for Fears "Mad World"
and Nada Surf covering OMD's "If You Leave".

        Here..take a listen.

            Nice.

I remember this thread.. covers are very touchy to me.

One of my all-time favorite covers is by Cat Power. She redid Oasis' "Wonderwall".

Colin Meloy [lead singer of The Decemberists] has an entire album that covers Morrissey, and boy did he do that man justice.

"I Know Very Well How I Got My Name" and "Jack the Ripper". Great great covers.

I know some of you won't like it simply because it was done by Fall Out Boy but it's honestly a really good cover of Michael Jackson's "Beat It". Video is pretty interesting too.

I'll probably get ripped for this one, but I liked "Cold As Ice" by M.O.P. (original by Foreigner). Also, as mentioned previously, Cake's "I Will Survive" was nice in that it was different from the original.

I like Fallout Boy but I don't like this cover too much. They can't match MJ in this one.

I personally feel Disturbed's version of Shout (they called it shout 2000) was much better than Tears for Fears version.

Also Drowning Pool covered Rebel Yell, and I think its a better version, but then again my tastes for music lead to both of my responses.

The only thing that bugged me was how terrible the solo was. I know they are kinda known for sucking at guitar, but EVH should kick that guys ***.

Not gonna go by page by page on this thread, but the guy that said Orgy did a better version of "Blue Monday" than New Order...dude, your entitled to your own opinion no matter how wrong it is. One of the worst takes I've read on these boards...IMO. And the Failure version of "Enjoy the Silence"...how could anyone be guilty of such blasphemy? Then I saw Will Smiths "Summertime" on his playlist..sorry, I'm so sorry.

Jimmy Eat World's "Firestarter" is better than Prodigy's "Firestarter".
