Covers Good or Better Than Original?

What are some songs that you think were better done as a cover, or atleast as good.

    Better than...
    1) Simple Man - Shinedown (original by Lynyrd Skynyrd)
    2) Darling Nikki - Foo Fighters (original by Prince)
    3) You Give Love A Bad Name - Atreyu (original by Bon Jovi)
    4) Blue Monday - Orgy (orginal by New Order)
    5) Bye Bye Bye - Further Seems Forever (original by Backstreet Boys)
    6) Like A Virgin - Incubus (original by Madonna)

    Just as good as....

    1) Come On Eileen - No Doubt (orinigal by Dexy's Midnight Runner
    2) Any Way You Want It - Rise Against (original by Journey)
    3) Aenima - Breaking Benjamin (original by Tool)
    4) Boys of Summer - The Ataris (original by Don Henley)

Don't get me wrong, I still love the LS version of it, and have extreme respect for it. I just prefer the Shinedown version better, especially after seeing it live in concert.

Orgy has NOTHING on New Order.

This is gonna be a horrible thread. :y4:

different take on it, but Jeffrey Gaines "In Your Eyes" (first done by Peter Gabriel)...I like both, but they're each very unique

New Order's version was waaaaaaaaaaay better as it pretty much set the tone for the industrial scene in the 80's. And bye bye bye was Nsync' not BSB.

Oops, I was thinking BSB. Either way, FSF was much better than the boy band version.

You shouldn't have corrected him on the last one. :y4:

I agree with New Order though. Substance (I think its the Greatest Hits) = Great CD.

I love Shinedown's cover of Simple Man. I'd agree that it's better than the original.

Local H's cover of Toxic is better than the original, but that's not saying much since I'm not a Brittany Spears fan.

Radiohead's cover of Wish You Were Here is excellent. I'm not gonna say it's better than Pink Floyd's, because I love Floyd to death, but I'd say it's at least as good.

I'm also a fan of APC's cover of Imagine...but I seem to be the only one who likes it. Dunno, I just think it was interesting how they gave the song a more pessimistic feel. I don't know if it's better than the original, but it's quite good.

I'm trying to check out that Aenima cover that you mentioned Tyler...I can't see Breaking Benjamin doing well on a song like that for some reason..

Anyways, that's all I can think of right now
