Re: buying multiple xbox 360s
So if that same guy is selling crack on the streets to kids, stealing from his company by laundering money, or is a hired hitman who kills people...it's all about making a buck right? I know that's extreme, but you're saying whatever you have to do to make money.Originally posted by FootballForever -

Not whatever I have to do, cause I work hard for a living, and I make an honest living, and yes you did go to the extreme with what you just said, I wouldn't condone any of that at all, but this is reality and it's a shame but that is how some people make there living, so there nothing you or me can do about it, so if that's how they make there living oh well, as long as I'm not around it.Originally posted by ExtremeGamerSo if that same guy is selling crack on the streets to kids, stealing from his company by laundering money, or is a hired hitman who kills people...it's all about making a buck right? Re: buying multiple xbox 360s
lol........all I'm saying is if you can make a little more money selling some 360's for a higher then retail price, I say go for it, if someone is going to pay for it Don't feel guilty by no means, cause in the end that person paying that extra money may most likely have more money then you,. I'm just saying extreme if you happen to stumbble accross 10 360 systems around launch time, and there being sold on ebay for like $600 and people are buying them, are you telling me you would still sell them for retail price? and come on be honest.Originally posted by ExtremeGamerA good point you make. Re: buying multiple xbox 360s
I don't see the problem in someone buying an extra console to sell on ebay. Like others have said, if people are foolish enough to pay such high prices for something, then it's really on them, not the seller, since the buyers/bidders are the ones setting the market here. Scalpers only exist because there are morons out there every day who are more than willing to pay a big markup on things. We live in a capitalist society, so why blame people for trying to get theirs and take advantage of idiots?
That being said, if someone were to stockpile like 30 XBox 360 systems for the sole purpose of jacking people on ebay, then I would frown upon that a little bit. There is a big difference between trying to make a little extra cash and taking advantage of overzealous buyers and completely hoarding something out of sheer greed.
Tell me something, though. Let's say you somehow ended up with an extra 360 for free. They are all sold out, and when you walk out of the store, you see two guys in their mid 20's both wanting to buy it off of you. One offers 300, and the other offers 500. Which person are you likely going to sell it to? Yup, that's what I thought.Comment

Re: buying multiple xbox 360s
Selling on eBay isn't scamming. And for those that make a living out of selling on eBay, it's no less worthy a job than those of you working 40 hours a week. It's just a different kind of job.
Economics is based on supply and demand. The person buying two 360's is taking a risk, banking on there being limited supply, and thus the ability to sell for a profit. If that is sleazy, then I am not sure how many of you justify filling up your gas tank every week.
If someone is able to buy two 360's and sell one for profit, then more power to them. The potential buyer is the only person that should be concerned, as they are the one paying potentially more for the system.
This country runs on people making a profit, one way or another. Selling things on eBay is not the equivalent of selling heroine in a back alley. It's just a non-traditional method of making a living that is become less and less unique as the years pass.
Providing the sale is legit, and involves two informed parties (a buyer and seller), then I really fail to see what the ouctry is about.
If you don't want to pay a premium to get something sooner than others (providing you would have to wait for second shipments of the 360), then you will be resigned to wait for more to become available at the regular price. This is nothing new, and I'm surprised that many seem to be surprised by this notion.
Making a profit on eBay is not scamming, it's called being a businessman, even if it's only to a minor degre.Enjoy football? Enjoy Goal Line Blitz!Comment

Give us a chance to respond before you respond for us. I'm morally sound I would think and I don't like taking advantage of others. I try to live by the code of the Bible's moral. In that, I never try to take advantage of anyone in any way. I've been tempted but have never taken advantage. Honestly, if there were two guys both wanting to buy it off of me, I wouldn't sell it to them. I'd just take it to the person that I think "deserved" it like someone who doesn't have money and seriously hasn't had something this big as a gift. Try to change their life. But at the same time, it might be a young kid who I would give a guideline too dealing with excelling in school. A good incentive if you will.Originally posted by SportsorDeathI don't see the problem in someone buying an extra console to sell on ebay. Personally, the only person I would negotiate something with would be my brother only to show him that some things he doesn't need. I jack the price at an unreasonable prive in order for him not to make a bad decision and rather use his mony in a more productive way. He seems to get the picture cause even now he still has better money handling skills than I. The key thing here is the morality mindset. Mines is structured on "doing unto others as I would have them do unto me" cause that's how I was raised. That's the mindset I chose to adopt. That's why our country is constantly degrading because so many people want to take and never give. Say what you will, but that's my true and honest opinion....Comment

Re: buying multiple xbox 360s
Maybe it's just me, but I honestly don't see the connection between gas prices and an XBOX. If you're talking about their greed to sky rocket the prices with falsehoods of oil being a resourse that is greatly decreasing and all that stuff (oil is second greatest resourse in world second only to water), then I can understand that. Honestly, gas is a needed resourse while game consoles aren't. They are a form of entertainment. Bad example honestly, or you have to better explain.Originally posted by JimplicationEconomics is based on supply and demand. Lots of oil made available to USA, it's cheap and we don't pay $3.00 a gallon.
Lots of Xboxes available, and people don't have to go onto eBay and pay $600 to get one.
If you don't want to pay $600 for an Xbox, wait for more to become available at retail prices.
If you don't want to pay $3.00 a gallon for gas, don't drive your car, and instead use public transportation and ride a bicycle until prices go down.Enjoy football? Enjoy Goal Line Blitz!Comment

Regardless, gas will rise and fall whether a person drives or not cause it's used in how many houses within the US? I know basically all the houses in the South Suburbs and Chicago for the most part. If anyone has a gas stove, there you go. I understand the supply and demand curve. I also understand there are idiots and fanatics out there that would pay just about anything. Honestly, it's all about the balance of the mental capacity. It's is the duty of the smart to watch out for the less mentally strong. Not a good thing to take advantage of those less fortunate.Originally posted by JimplicationSupply and demand.

Depends on what you are referring to here..Originally posted by luv_mistIt's is the duty of the smart to watch out for the less mentally strong. Not a good thing to take advantage of those less fortunate.
Someone that is less "mentally strong" and goes online to pay $600 for an Xbox on eBay isn't necessarily as "mentally weak" as he is impatient.
Also, in relation to gas and driving.. Someone that pays $3.00 for gas borders on being both stubborn and lazy to me, not mentally weak. Instead of looking for alternative ways of transportation that don't cost $30+ a week, they just pay it and go on with life. Which is fine, but I don't think people are obligated to feel sorry for them, and "watch out" for them. Also, there is also the possibility that they can afford it without worry, and that just goes back to showing that people will pay premiums to get what they want, when they want it. If they don't want to pay those premiums, they must either wait until the prices go down, find alternative legal means, or turn to illegality.Enjoy football? Enjoy Goal Line Blitz!Comment

Re: buying multiple xbox 360s
Welcome to the world we call Reality, I'm glad you live your life by the Bible, I'm sure your a great person for that. I was born and rasied a catholic and That still wouldn't stop be from making some buck's if I could. Yes there are greater things in life, but I bet 99 people out of 100 people would say money Is number one, yeah it's sad but it's true. Anyway If I can make more money I will, I'm sorry if to say this but the Bible isn't paying my bills.Originally posted by luv_mistGive us a chance to respond before you respond for us. Re: buying multiple xbox 360s
who is saying the people would be less fortunate, get that out of your head dude, If someone is buying a 360 this year I'm sure there not to poor or less fortunate like you put it. If I bought 10 360 and jacked up the price b $100 each system, theres nothing wrong with that, if you decide to but that's your fault, but don't tell me there's sonthing wrong with that, cause there not.Originally posted by luv_mistRegardless, gas will rise and fall whether a person drives or not cause it's used in how many houses within the US? Re: buying multiple xbox 360s
If someone wants to buy a 360, PS3, or whatever to sell on ebay, it's their right. They purchased it fair and square and are not forcing anyone to buy it. If a potential buyer doesn't want to run the risk of a sellout, they should hightail it to their nearest games store and put some money down.XBL: Mean Greene
