    STRANGLEHOLD w/ Chow Yun-Fat

I was just surfing the web before I started studying some Pre-Calculus for my quiz today and I came across this game. Though it's not over-the-top tight, the graphics are quite appealing. It's by Midway. Ironically, this the first time I heard about this game. Was checking it out on gamespot.com too. Go ahead and stream the video. It's coming in the fall of 2006 so it might be a game coming out for 360 when it drops. That would be tight if it was a great game. That's a heck of a lot of money.

Re: New Game: STRANGLEHOLD w/ Chow Yun-Fat

Latest preview in GameInformer has me excited. The graphics are very impressive. I like the art direction.

A few interesting things from the preview...
    • The skin on the character models is particularly impressive, lacking the plastic-like sheen seen in several early 360 titles
    • Environments are just as impressive, and the attention to detail is what makes it look like something straight out of John Woo's movies.
    • Stranglehold's biggest feature is what the team calls "massive destruction", or Massive D. Over the course of a shootout, nearly everything in an area will be blown to bits. Example: In one of the levels tables slpinter, bottles shatter, food flies off plates, and light streams through bullet holes in windows. Individual tiles can be shot off walls and floors, and bullets leave craters in brick. Dust fills the air as things get destroyed, stuffing flies out of the punctured seat cushings, and wood breaks apart into slivers. After a gunfight is over, the damage remains, leaving behind piles of rubble for the player to wade through.
    • If a player is taken cover behind a pillar, the enemies rounds will chip away at it until it's no longer a suitable hiding place. You can kick up tables for cover. You can use these destructable environments to your advantage, like large neon signs can be shot down off walls, causing them to crush the enemies underneath.
    • You can blast floors out from under enemies above you. You'll be able to run up banisters or slide down them. Swing from chandeliers.
    • Transistions from one action to another is seamless. Example: you can slide down a railing and jump onto a restaurant cart, then ride it across the floor spraying bullets the entire time.
    • You can slow things down at anytime, but it has a little more depth than games like Max Payne.
    • Vehicles are being including as well, including, cars, four-wheelers, and smaller rides like mopeds.
    • Stranglehold will have multiplayer, but they're not ready to reveal details. Deathmatches will definitely be included, using constrained versions of the campaign levels. Also, Co-op mode is being toyed with.

    Sounds awesome

As a BIG John Woo fan, I'm very excited about this title. With John Woo directly working with the developers on the game's storyline this is must have for me & for any Woo fans out there. I'm loving the usage of Tequila as the main character with Chow Yun Fat adding his voice for the game...

Me too but I never really check the site out too often. Only thing worth subscribing to. Good stuff on the real. What's the name of the movie that precedes this title? I need to rent it or find a way to watch it.

Get the out of print Criterion Edition of Hard Boiled if your not much of a fan of the genre. Might be hard to find but worth it.

Video looks decent. Not spectacular. If the gameplay is good, this may be a fun title. Looks sort of like a Max Payne type game.

Not bad. I'm liking the ability to use the enviorment to your advantage during Gun-Battles.
