If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I didnt know what to expect with Elder Scrolls since I have never played any games in the series.

My intial impression, Elder Scrolls is the system seller alot of people have been waiting for. It gives me the same holy crap, I didnt know games could be this good feeling that I got when I played GTA the first time on PS2.

All I can say is WOW.

Re: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion discussion...

Some impressions from somebody on IGN...

I've been playing the game for about 2 hours straight now. I haven't gotten very far because I've just been wandering around talking to npc's and killing small creatures.

Graphics: I can honestly say that I have not noticed any slowdown or choppiness of any kind. I have spent some time running around the wilderness so that includs the tress and various foilage. I'm impressed with it all. I'm playing the game at 720p with no problems at all.

Controls: Very responsive. I've only battled basic creatures like imps, wolves, goblins and mud crabs. The quick slash and hard slash are timely and responsive. You can hot key certain spells and items to the d-pad so that is nice. With the hot key you have 8 possible directions to assign items to. I've also tried my skills at lock picking and once I figured it out, no problem. It's very easy to break lock picks if you don't know what your doing.

Sounds/Music: The music is superb. I'm really liking it alot. It matches the mood and switches when you get into a battle. The sound effects are clear and very well done. No complaints here.

Journal: Took me a while to understand how this was laid out. I will be honest it was a little confusing for me at first. After awhile it makes sense. It's basically laid out by the main tabs at the bottom. You can switch between them by using the left and right triggers. This is where you can access your maps, weapons, spells and hotkey controls.
I've been only hanging around the main imperial city but I've investigates some nearby forts and the main harbor. They had a huge flag ship docked there. I don't know if you use it for transportation yet so.

As far as the hype goes...

I think that once people start getting into it and can get past the initial start up and leveling of their characters, they will see why this game is in a genere of it's own. I would say that yes, this game lives up to the hype and delivers. The load times while walking around is just a small loading bar. It is very fast. Sometimes you won't even notice that it is there.
            Clarification.

When you are walking around the game world and the next area is going to load, all it says it "Loading area..." on the bottom of the screen.

About the physics of differents objects on tables and such. I went into some hole in the wall bar and took out my sword and swung it at the table and everything seemed to react and fall independently of one another.

But for some reason, I wasn't able to knock or cut the lit candle on the table.

            Oh well.
Some captures - not the best quality

I wish someone had PC impressions, I would really like to know how it would run on mine so I could decide what version to get.

The initial loading screen, when starting a game, is horrific; about a minute long. After that, they are very quick.

Is this when you load a saved game, or just when starting a brand new game or both?
