Originally posted by DefelWell, he said he was looking for gameplay, weapons and combat above all else. The Baldur's Gate Trilogy offers the best of the above. Casual roleplaying fans are usually looking for games with lots of cutscenes and good graphics. If that's what he's looking for, then he should try Xenosaga, FFX, Star Ocean, etc.
I suggested Shadow Hearts because it was similar to other PS2 RPGs, but added a little kick to the gameplay. I played Shadow Hearts Covenant without playing Shadow Hearts and I was fine. Japanese RPGs usually don't make much sense storywise anyway.Comment

That and it's my girlfriend's favorite game. She cried while playing Metal Arms: Glitch in the System because it was too frustrating, but...she probably likes it because she likes anime...not because it was easy.Comment

Originally posted by DefelActually, I'll retract Xenosaga. Now, that I think about it, it did have some nice twists to the gameplay. I'm just biased against it because I got annoyed with the long cutscenes and I quit after six hours or so. I watch a lot of movies so the story of a game with lots of non-interactive cutscenes has to be as good as a four-star movie for me to be interested.
