Dead Space has you jumping out of your seat on numerous occasions, not to mention that it has a FAR better control scheme and it's much less linear.

      This game is really fun, but Dead Space is the new king of Survival Horror/Action in every aspect.
      To be fair, I don't think they're really going for survival horror anymore. I'd say it's probably around survival action at best.

          I played and beat Dead Space and that was a really fun game too, but that game didn't really scare me much at all.

            I agree the graphics are not notch. Capcom usually delivers really awesome graphics with games like RE or DMC.

            I got to chapter 3-3 tonight on co-op with a buddy and really enjoying it. Great game but it's pretty much only a one time deal so it's a rental.

              After seeing killzone and mgs4, it's tough to give this game a thumbs up graphically. I just think we're spoiled though. It's not far behind at all.

              Graphically, the game is STILL very impressive. How many sports games look this solid? Not many.

                How anyone can buy this game and only play it once, with all of the unlockables available, is beyond me.

                  As I noted earlier, I agree with you that this is a very good looking game, but doesn't compare with Killzone 2 graphically. KZ2 has so much going on and holds up rather well with very low drops in framerate which I experienced last night in the second to last level. RE5 is no slouch graphically.

                  I can see where this game has turned off a lot of old time fans. Even RE4 I could say are upset with the total direction in action. I went in with an open mind and some of the levels work great and then there are others where it makes you wonder where the hell did they cut these from and paste them into the game.

                  I also felt that the weapon upgrade system in RE5 was totally unbalanced vs. the one in RE4. Not too sure what happened there.

                  In the end, I still had fun playing the game even though there were a few things that got on my nerves. Like RE1 ushered the survival horror genre, RE4 took the over the shoulder camera gametype to the next level which other games like GOW used.

                    played with a friend co-op split-screen. we chose to play on normal, which was a mistake because it was way too easy. we beat the game in about 7 hours or so. the only parts we really ever died on were the cut scene button mushing sessions(I really hate those).

                    we're going to try it on veteran and see how much harder it is.

                      The replay value in this game is High, finding the BSAA Emblems, Getting acheivements, finding the treasures, Mercenaries, Upgrading all your weapons, getting the special Weapons like the Hydra Tripple Barrel Shotgun, Long Bow, Gattling Gun, S&W M500, etc.......Plus the DLC that will be comming out soon with the two new game modes for $5. BTW when does that release?

                        There is a lot of replayability here. After I am done with KZ2 in the next day or so, I am going to run through this game again on Veteran.

                          I've got 1 more chapter to do and it's go time with all the unlockables. I'm playing on veteran now and I've had a few missions with a whole lot of deaths.

                          I'm going to wait till I have a vast majority of weapons fully upgraded before I even attempt professional mode with a friend.

                          Also, I have to wonder how you're supposed to get S Rank on all missions.

                            I was Sheva the whole time we played. we decided to pick certain weapons to "specialize" in and use them. he took Pistol and Sniper, I went with MG and Shotgun(I know seems kind of backwards). since Ammo was found very easily on normal( i think at one point I had 500+ ammo for my MG), we really didn't have to spare much. so he would attack from a distance, and I would sit next to him with the shotgun ready the blast them back if they get too close. it actually worked very well. if only I could crouch.

                            I got the M3 shotgun and since I saved most my money I was almost able to fully upgrade it right away. later I got the SIG 556(MG) and upgraded that. those became my weapons. I also carried the stun rod for a while, but eventually i never had to use it because I never ran out of ammo. my friend pretty much stuck with the S75 sniper the whole game and the base pitol(M92FS, fully upgraded). later started using the Magnums for high damage.

                            after we beat it, we played around some and got the gatling gun and the bow. that really makes it easy.

                              Yeah, me and my friends have constantly had issues with having enough ammo on veteran (except w/ sniper, I'm usually pretty good there). We'll be doing alright and than run into something that just eats up our ammo.
