    Re: Xbox 360 Pricing Announced

How much can I get for my kidney?

With rent, bills, and car stuff to pay for, $600 CDN (with taxes) is pushing my boundries for a game console. Jesus, I can just see Sony now able to push out the PS3 at $500 US and not take a PR hit because of MS's pricing. I guess I can't afford next gen yet....

Wonder how Bethesda feels about this?

I could be wrong, but last I read you needed an HDD to play Oblivion. This would hurt their sales for the Xbox 360 version.

My feelings as well. I wanted the wireless controller and HD, but I was hoping that would be for $299 and not $399.

I didn't pre-order and planned on purchasing a few months after it comes out, but it looks like I might wait even longer. As I get older, it's getting harder for me to justify spending that much on a game console. Too many other things to spend that money on.

oh, sony can, just depends on how much of a loss they want to take on the system, like the first xbox did

I'm going to have to sit down and think about this purchase now. $400 is a lot of money, and it feels like the HDD is now an afterthought as game developers are obviously not going to use it to it's fullest extent, just like the Sony HDD. They know that more $300 systems will sell than $400, meaning that less people will have the HDD. The biggest question is how much are memory cards? Say a 64MB card is 40 bucks, why wouldn't you spend the extra 60 for the HDD? Releasing 2 systems is a mistake. The HDD could end up being a flop.

Well that's disappointing. I was ready to switch from PS2 to XBox360 but now I'm not sure what will happen. I guess my PS2 and PC are going to have to tide me over for awhile.

$100 for a 20gb hard drive is ridiculous. Looks like I'm going to shell out the money for biggie size. They is no way in hell I want a wired controller either.

                              From Chris Morris at CNN.com:

The hard drive might seem like an expensive luxury to some shoppers, particularly those buying for someone else this holiday season, but for current Xbox gamers, it's a critical piece of equipment. Without a hard drive, the Xbox 360 will not be able to play any games from the current Xbox, including the phenomenally successful "Halo 2"

They should've priced it at $329. Wireless contoller and 5GB HDD. After seeing the prices of the accessories i'll definitely be getting the premium version.
