Re: Xbox 360 Pricing Announced
Ugh!!! Sticker-shock. I will definitely pick up the 360, but I think I'll wait and snag one after the holidays. Too many other expenses at that time of year. Plus, there are plenty of xbox titles that I could play in the mean time.XBL: Mean Greene

Re: Xbox 360 Pricing Announced
The price for some of those accessories is downright criminal though. I guess they really want to entice people to go for the premium version.
Anyways...

Right now everybody is unsure about spending $400 on a new system because most people are still thinking (me included) the upgrade is the equivalent of XBOX to PS2. Once we see the games running at their best, canned food for a month won't be so hard.
Remember NFL 2K for Dreamcast? Soul Calibur? The games crushed anything that was out there at the time and 2K made most football gamers shell out the cash for the system just to play as their favorite team in the new virtual football world.
People who don't game online won't give a **** about a HDD and will enjoy saving 100 bucks
I've been pessimistic about Microsoft launching the next gen console so quickly, and this a big nail in the coffin. I love my Xbox mainly because of the HDD. Now with it being an optional accesory, game developers will not be gettin the most out of the system when they consider that a large market (I would imagine) will proabbly be without the HDD.
It might sound stupid but we're probably going to have to wait 5-7 years for another console to come out and really change the way, or at least one way (XBL) gaming has changed the way the first Xbox did.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. We’re talking about on the biggest stage, in New York, playing out of position and asked to hit fourth for the New York Yankees. I mean, that’s never been done.” - Sheffield on SheffieldComment

Originally posted by DondaddaThere goes my pre-order. I am cancelling it this week and will wait for the PS3. The PS3 is a much better deal at $400.
Also I dont think the PS3 will be 400. I think it'll be 450-500.
Good to have cash (or better yet, no wife/kids) as buying the $400 360 and possibly the PS3 wont be a hit to me.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 Pricing Announced
As a current PS2 owner, I'm not too knowledgable about the HDD. How do/would the games use this? I understand obviously for save files, custom soundtracks, etc but what are the other current/potential benefits?Comment

I can easily. I wisely skipped the DC for the PS2, and I will do the same for the PS3.
Besides, with NFL 2K5 still being online, and the leagues still running strong, I can very easily wait. That game is phenomenal with its online franchise.
So yes, I will wait for the PS3, now. Too bad, I was getting amped for the 360 . . .but this latest information is just too insulting to the consumer. PS3 might be the same deal, but at least it is the technically superior hardware, and will have the Blu-Ray and the best HD support right out of the box (supposedly).Been gaming since the Atari 2600, and hells no I won't stop!!!Comment

Re: Xbox 360 Pricing Announced
Originally posted by mgobluewe don't know...a good example i saw about the HD is in the ESPN 2k5 football they had the halftime replays on Xbox, but PS2 didn't have actual replays. Perhaps devs could write stuff that works if a HD's there and do something else otherwise, but having to account for both slightly worries me. I think both PS3 and Xbox 360 will now have optional HD's, so that's just what we're looking at.
Thanks for the info mgo.Comment
