I'm getting 360 here is why:

1.XBox Live is the best thing for video games
    a) it adds life to sports games
    b) friends list is great
    2. I hate being nickeled and dimed for memorary cards

I don't see how Vista or Windows Media Center is going to change anything. What, the 360 can now play more media files? Like I said, the 360 is like an Xbox with a graphics upgrade. I mean there's nothing next gen about the games besides the graphics. I don't even know how many times I can repeat that.

I really don't know much about the PS3 as of now, but I do recall that Sony is focusing on more than just gaming alone. As of now the PS3 is in the same boat as the 360 besides the fact that their games look to have more substance besides the regular shoot em up game and sports titles.

The Revolution has caught my eyes because Nintendo is really trying to make a push torwards making a system that isn't like the PS3 and 360 and still be something fun to play. The controller alone can create endless possibilities of unique games that are fresh and not just rehashed genres that have been around for more than a decade. Playing all of your classic titles is also a bonus. I'm really looking forward to this system.

One) You dont see how Vist or Media Center will change anything???..... Well, when you have either system hooked up to the LAN with your 360, you now have TIVO functionality on your HDTV.... for FREE. That is definetly a very attractive feature. Please explain to me what else the PS3 has to offer.... Blu-Ray? Yup, 360 can do that too. Just have to have the Vist or Media Center with a Blu Ray Drive.

And as for your graphics comment... of course the 360 is a graphic upgrade. Go look at that Call Of Duty HD movie. Thats beautiful. and check Gears of War. Its insane. Now bout the other things besides graphics? AI, physics, etc. well to judge that, you have to PLAY the game, which neither of us have done, and you are far from being an expert on that. So to say the 360 will only be a graphics update is completely untrue, and you have no way to back that up.

Two) "[PS3] games look to have more substance besides the regular shoot em up game and sports titles"

show me one PS3 game running on anything close to final dev kit.

This 360 launch lineup is by far the best looking lineup i have ever seen for a console.

Heres what i suggest you do. You hop off the sony bandwagon, and actually give the 360 a look, instead of just going straight to the bashing and touting how much better the ps3 is.

As stated by many developers and people in the industry before. "Both next gen systems are insanely powerful. Its going to come down to who has the best games."

          Re: 360 vs PS3

I already gave the 360 a look and nothing really impresses me besides Perfect Dark (because I'm a fan) and the fact Halo 3 is releasing. That's enough info to warrant a purchase a 360 in itself, but nothing to make me want to pre-order the system.

But I'm going to say it again. The 360 can now play MORE MEDIA FILES. I'm pretty sure the PS3 is going to be doing the same thing as the 360 or better because I recall them packing a 80 GB HDD. The media stuff is cool, but I mean but a moded Xbox can already do the majority of what a 360 can do in terms of media. Thats why I say, the 360 is nothing but a graphic upgrade. Yeah of course the gameplay is going to get a boost, but I mean if the same games keep coming out, there isn't much that's fresh when it comes to an overall gaming experince.

I'm still wating on the PS3 and Revolution and I'm just going to put the 360 on hold. That's all son.

The PS3 will not have a 80GB harddrive at launch.

I believe that was confirmed by the Katurgi (Or whatever his name is)

IF the system comes with an 80 GB HDD, it will be over 600 bucks

            EDIT: and one more thing...

What exactly is this extra stuff that the PS3 will be doing? will the cell processor be doing dishes? vaccuming the living room?

I believe your point about the 360 and PS# playing more media files is about the extent you can take it....

            unless ive missed something.

Both systems will be great, and it all comes down to games.

Prices of hard drives vary so I couldn't really determine the cost of a system by that.

I could get a new 80 Gig hard drive for 60 bucks.

I've been repeating myself about the media thing. I've already said the PS3 and the 360 would do much of the same in terms of that. I also believe that the Playstation has the best third party support, therefore I stick with them untill they shift to another console.

                well then i misunderstood you.

i thought you were saying the ps3 was more than a gaming machine, and i was just trying to understand exactly what that is.

as for the harddrive, yes you could get that size for 60 bucks.

But i know the harddrive for the 360 is only 20 gigs, and MS said the reason its so expensive was because of its design and functionalitiy. i imagine Sony will also have a sepcial harddive to sell, and just not let any run of the mill harddrive company make money off of that.

and from what ive heard, the ps3 will not come with a harddrive.

There's no valid way one can say which console will be better until we see them both in action. I suspect it won't be until late 2006 for the 360, and then sometime in 2007 for the PS3, until you really start to see what these consoles can accomplish.

Some people should just come out and admit which console they "hope" will be better, and quit stating it as fact. Admit your bias and move on.

Even in 2007 people will still be arguing about which system is better. Just look at today, many argue the Xbox is better because it's the more powerful system but many will argue the PS2 is better because of the games. There is no clear cut winner in this gen unless you go by sales numbers, then it's the PS2.

Microsoft had no chance this current generation against a company that was well into it's 2nd generation system, even with better hardware. You can't unseat a firmly entrenched giant like that, especially one with great software support, including many 3rd party devs. Microsoft did take a bite out of the giant, which should set things up for a closer race this generation. Coming out in advance gives it a leg up, especially knowing that many gamers simply cannot stay away from purchasing the latest technology.

                      Some random thoughts/questions for next-gen:
                      - PS3 pricing. Will it be too expensive for some?
                      - Microsoft has even more 2nd and 3rd party dev support this time around, which should make things more interesting.
                      - Sony will own the Asian market once again no doubt, but will the added Japanese dev support for the 360 cut into that domination?
                      - Will the online offerings of the 360 reel more people in?
                      - Will Sony's Blu-Ray inclusion on the PS3 be too good for some to pass up?
                      - Will any of these consoles have an advantage in hardware(especially a graphical edge), and if so, will it even make a difference in sales?

It will be an interesting battle, one that hopefully brings out the best in both companies, and one with competitive price cuts of course. I like the competition, because I see 2 companies that cannot afford to become lazy, and thus will continue to push each other to newer heights. It's a good time for gamers, and I think it will only get better.

I haven't forgotten about Nintendo, but they really need to pull their socks up and get back to being innovative, not complacent, and that controller is a nice start.
