Re: Crackdown (360)
Like some have said, the demo didn't wow me at first. But, once my strength and agility increased.
The game looks really good, I love its visual style and it runs great. The draw distance is the best I have seen in any game. When you can stand on top of a tall building and still see the people walking down street into the distance, freakin' awesome.
The architecture is nice and varied so you don't feel like you are climbing the same building over and over again. But I am curious to see what the rest of the city looks like.
When playing the demo I left the home base in the agency supercar and exited the vehicle as soon as I came out of the garage to fight the gang memebers outside. From there I climbed the building next to me forgot about the supercar and went about the city taking down the baddies. With only 2 or 3 minutes left in the demo I died and respawned at headquarters. When I left the garage the supercar was still there where I left it almost an hour before. Very cool stuff.
My only concern is if there will be enough variety in the missions in the full game. Hopefully they make them varied and challenging enough to keep me playing. As it stands right now though, I can't wait for this game to come out.Comment

Re: Crackdown (360)
Wow. Like others I really didn't get into it at first but after playing it a while I got to absolutely loving it. The draw distance, the open endeness and especially the climbing were spectacular. I spent one hour just collecting the agility power ups so I could jump around the city. Spidermans got nothing on my crackdown demo character lol.
Showed my brother the game and he got hooked. He is rather picky with the games he plays and even the demo version of this game impressed him.Comment

Re: Crackdown (360)
This is a must buy. Open world, endless action, power ups, at your discretion public havoc, climbing tall buildings, drive any car or truck you want, and from the looks of the intro there is much more you can do...lol
I don't know about you guys, but I'm enjoying my 360 collection starting to build up.Comment

Re: Crackdown (360)
My 360 is getting operated on in McAllen Texas so I'd like to know 2 answers to questions from people who have the demo:
1) Is this open ended sandbox type game like GTA or is it fairly linear?
2) How is the aiming done, is it like GTA or free aim or both or what?

2) Both...you can select a target by using the left trigger (I think) or you can just free aim. You'll find both useful because the auto-target won't hone in on things like explosive barrels and you'll be shooting a lot of those whenever bad guys are near.Comment

Re: Crackdown (360)
one thing that has concerned me from the demo is whether in the final retail version it makes you pay for getting close to your enemies. after jumping around and powering up my strength, I said to hell will using my gun shooting to kill the gang memeber, I just starting running right up to them and start kicking/punching and were taking cats out with one kick. Now it did take multiple hits to kill the "targets"."Never trust a big butt and a smile."-Ricky Bell

Try it on the hardest difficulty (Psychotic?). The gangs are a little smarter than on the second difficulty but more importantly their shots do more damage than the other difficultys and the hit squads are larger...Comment

Re: Crackdown (360)
1) It's more open than any of the GTA sequels. The lead designer of this game was an employee at Rockstar when the ORIGINAL GTA games were released, the top-down open ended games that got popular on the PC back in the mid to late 90's. I heard his interview on Major Nelson's podcast. Good stuff.

Genius move by MS to have the beta in the game, they must really think Crackdown is a great game that if they could just get people to sample would be a blockbuster. It'll be interesting to see if that is the case.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Crackdown (360)
I enjoyed the demo, especially when I got the strength to heave cars at the bad guys. For some reason the game reminded me of that Rockstar game where you just ran all over the place and could kill anyone...can't remember the name of it.Boston Red Sox 2004, 2007 World Series Champions
