      Re: The Warriors Ships Today!!!

Impressions after opening up the Warrior's save building and doing the 2 or 3 Coney Island bonus missions....

I don't think I'd rate this game as a must own, but I like it. It's a decent beat 'em up, but not a must play game like God of War IMO. If you liked the movie, you should like this game.

The main thing I dislike is that I find the controls a bit lacking for fighting against large groups which is what you do most of the time (It could be GOW spoiled me because it was the last action game I played and the controls were perfect).

Maybe I haven't learned all the buttons yet, but when locked on to a target I find it difficult to switch targets when fighting large groups. When switching, I target my own gang members too much or I have trouble picking out a specific target. This is a beat 'em up with large groups of enemies, you'd think they would have made the controls a bit better for fighting those large groups. Maybe I should not be using the lock on button in large groups or there is a target switch method that works better, I don't know.

I do like the mini-games so far, they are a very nice touch and serve to mix things up. I do like the atmosphere and would like to jump right to the recreation of the movie part of the game after the excellent intro that mimicked the opening of the movie. Fighting smaller groups is fun, specially with a large group acting as backup. I would give it a 7 out of 10 so far. IMO If you aren't a fan of the movie or beat 'em ups, then rent before you buy.

        Re: The Warriors Ships Today!!!

i played for little over an hour last night, and the presentation is exactly like the warriors movie, very cool. the controls are a bit tricky but i found the best way to fight in group brawl is not to use lock on, if you have three guys on you just push the controller in there direction and swing, so if a guy is behind you press the back button and he will back-hand them, ect.

starting out as rembrandt is kinda cool until you have to do the tedious tags, tedious to me anyways, cause i kinda sucked at them. ive only gotten to the hangout as well and i was just messing around and starting beating the hell out of cowboy and when i nearly killed him the rest of the warriors started beating the hell out of me and killed me, i thought that was pretty cool.

overall its a very old-school type game which is very fun, but can be a bit confusing trying to find exactly the right fence to climb or guy to go to because its extremely dark. its still early on in the game so im looking forward to seeing what else it has to offer.

i havent really played it enough, but it seems very deep, ign said there are 460 unlockables which include hidden gangs, weapons, and all them goodies. so I imagine the deeper you get into the game the more fun and intense it gets. right now the stages ive done (first 3) are basically to teach you the basics of the game while giving you a little story to do it in. the game is GOOD, definately worth a rent. im gonna play some more today, and ill update with some more impressions.

Ok, cool. I'll try that out because trying to lock on to guys in a group was a major pain. I wanted to target the guy closest to me, the one beating the hell out of me, but I always was targeting another Warrior.

I actually like the tag mission drawing the W.

I kind of like that every situation doesn't have to be met with beat downs. Going up against a large force of cops seems to be best met with the scatter command and hiding out in the shadows until the cops pass. It nails the feel of the movie perfectly. Sometimes you gotta run from a fight and sometimes you should turn and stand your ground.

After spending some more time with the game learning the controls and making getting a weapon a must in a fight, I'm liking it more and more.

                Re: The Warriors Ships Today!!!

Finally got a chance to play some last night. I got up to the "hang out" and did a few side missions in Coney Island. This game captures the feel of the movie so much and i love it. Not ground breaking as far as gameplay goes but the story is already sucking me in.

                Spolier*************

I loved the end of the tag mission. After you make the bIg Warriors mural and everyone is asking where Ajax is. Then the scene of the leader turning around and having the W on his back was great.

                ******************************

I think the dev team has done a great job with the story telling. I love the flashback idea. If they just would have went with the movie plot and nothing else it would have been rather bland for a person who has seen the movie as much as I have.

When i loaded up the game for the first time and heard the music and saw the Ferris Wheel it brought a huge smile to my face.

Try throwing enemies into the crowd to clear it out, and go into rage mode once you are able.

I don't want to spoil anything, but I have only been in one mission where I was overwhelmed, and I think that was the point. You have to make smart tactical decisions (smart for a beat em up anyway). Psecifically split up a little to separate the enemy and fight (but not too far to be helped if you need it)

If you can break loose and run a little, I love sprinting toward a group of enemies and throwing yourself at them in a cross body takedown....fun fun

I highly recommend at least a rental, and if you like the movie, it's a must buy.

*** also I think it's coll how each Warrior not only has different moves, but strengths and weaknesses. Ajax is a beast in rage mode.

                    SPOILER(sorta):

i just played a little more and the mission where you go into the orphans turf is a blast, just total *** kicking. i tried the first flashback mission but i keep getting arrested, i unlocked a few others and some more rumble modes. the more you play the more fun it is. like ive said before the story line is perfect.

I recently fired this game back up on my old XBOX. This is one of my favorite games from last gen. A great brawler, but a true treat if your a huge fan (like me) of the movie. Rockstar did an amzing job with this title.

I am playing thorugh this again along with Hitman 2 (another great game from last gen).

In an old school mood to compliment my addiction with the Show 12!

I really hope Rockstar releases an HD version for PS3...that would be amazing.
