King Kong is a game I am really looking forward too. Not only am I psyched for the system itself, but there are about 4 or 5 launch games that I know will be really good.

Of course. You think I am dumb enough to dish out $59 on King Kong? As nice as it sounds, thats one I will rent. NBA 2k6 and COD are the only two I am buying.

Doesn't sound like too bad of an idea, although I'm not playing nearly as much as I used to. I know there are going to be games that I'd love to play, but yet, don't feel like dishing out the $60 for it.

You keep the games for as long as you want. If you decide it is a game you would like to own, you can buy it from their website usually at a good price. For example, right now I have the option to buy Kameo for $38.99. Then they send you a case and instruction booklet and ship out the next available game on your Game Q (the list of games you tell them you want). The nice thing that has sped up the delivery is the Fast Return.

I played King Kong and COD this morning at EB games.

Both are really nice graphically, KK kinda blew me away actually. COD was very nice, but it wasn't THAT much better than some of the other shooters on the original xbox. I definatly want to get COD though. I kept playing for about an hour.

I played the hell out of the demo over the course of the past week, and even watched all the videos, as well.

As some one who is almost 30 and who has gamed sinced the 2600, I have to say that I've never been more underwhelmed with a new console, than the XBOX 360. Even on an HDTV, most of the demo games and vids look BARELY better than what can be seen on an XBOX.

I give props to COD2 for being a great game, but it by no means even close to next gen. I mean, there is terrible clipping and stupid AI all over that title. Best war shooter I've played, but it really feels just like "another" great shooter for the XBOX, not some kind of next gen leap.

I think that King Kong looks very solid, but I don't dig the way it plays. Pretty simplistic, and nothing new at all.

Kameo is a fun title . . . but again, just like COD2, it feels exactly like an XBOX game.

As for the vids, the only ones that really got me hyped were Gears of War and the Sega driving game (I forgot the title - sorry). The graphics on those games looked TRULY next gen, no doubt about it. The others, though, looked like nice, or even ugly, XBOX games. Not even PGR3 was impressive, graphically. As a hardcore sports gamer, I actually got upset while watching the NHL 2K6 and NBA 2K6 vids. Just pathetic graphics for what is supposed to be a whole new generation (on which you'd be plunking down $400 to buy).

My philosophy is that you are supposed to be WOWed by a next gen system. It happened to me since every generation jump from the 2600 onward. I remember playing the first Madden on PS2. I couldn't fn believe what I saw.

I guess this is not going to hold true on the XBOX 360, or even the PS3, as you really have to look hard for the improvements in the games, graphically. And as far as innovative gameplay is concerned, I haven't found it.

Although I regret cancelling my 360 preorder (due to the fact I could make some good $$$ on ebay), I by no means want that console right now . .. I'll stick with the current gen until the price comes down and the developers get a better grasp on the hardware. I'm crossing my fingers that the PS3 will blow me away, but somehow I don't think that's going to happen, either.

We'll see.

Bottom line is that the 360 is most definitely NOT worth killing yourself or your bank account for at this stage in the game.

That's like saying Operation Sports . . . is a website . . .


That being said, my opinion is a pretty well educated one. I most definitely would love to play COD2 at home right now, but it's not even close to be worth dropping $400+ just to be able to play it. I'm VERY dissappointed in Microsoft. And those of you who don't have HDTVs are going to be even more let down.
