Has anybody else picked up this game yet? Any more impressions? I'm debating if I want to pick this up tonight or not.

Re: Just picked up Matrix: Path of Neo
I picked it up last night at Target.
Let me begin by saying that the graphics are mediocre at best and I have a dual 7800 gtx setup on my PC.
It's the gameplay that really matters so here goes. The wealth of melee combat in this game is astonishing. In a throwback black and white scenario that is reminiscent of old hong kong kung fu flicks you obtain a katana and unleash hell. Once you begin to learn how to fight multiple enmies through a somewhat similar style as god of war the chained combos almost become endless. This part of the game is very satisfying.
When it comes to gunplay the camera and aiming can become pretty akward. Although there was one scenario (which I had no clue how I did) where I began leaping of the walls in a small corridor continuously firing as I jumped from one side to the other 5-6 times flipping and contorting my body, very satisfying.
I really couldnt begin to describe some of the moves I pulled off let me just say that the combat is extremely rewarding minus camera and aiming issues.
I'm not by any means saying this game is perfect but its definitely fun I would recommend the purchase.Comment

Re: Just picked up Matrix: Path of Neo
Yeah. Just to follow up after having played this for a few more days (at this point I'm probably about 70% through the game).
Graphics: mediocre.
AI: a bit above average.
Camera: irritating every once in a while (as are loading screens).
And yet, I keep coming back for more and am having an awesome time with this game. The hand to hand combat is probably the most satisfying I've ever experienced in a game.
After having played that much more, I recommend this game more than I did to begin with as well. If you're looking for an action game that's not perfect, but is just damn fun, this fits the bill.Comment

Re: Just picked up Matrix: Path of Neo
The Xbox version is awesome and Jawdropping, If you love Kung Fu movies and Kung Fu filicks, Kill Bill, Flying Guillotines, 36th Chamber of Shaolin, then this is a must game to own. The features alone packed into this DVD-9 is worth the purchase and every bit of the 50 bucks this game costs. The best Matrix game to date. Its got the Making of the Matrix Game and more with the Watchowski brothers.
Lots of revolutions and firsts ever seen in a game and the fighting engine alone scores a 10 from me , hopefully other Game companies take note how the fighting engine is done all so well in this game and we do get a Kung Fu game based on this fighting engine which is the best Ive seen.Comment

Re: Just picked up Matrix: Path of Neo
Just to update on this as I got to play a few more hours tonight. This game just gets better and better as it goes along. The level design gets much, much better toward the second-half (not that it was bad during the first-half).
I don't know what IGN will give this game, but I'm now giving it a solid 9 out of 10. Just a crazy fun action game. As was hinted at above, it's basically like being in a Matrix movie - and controlling all the action. It's hard to describe, but I'm really glad I picked it up. I'd say this is a must buy (or at least rent) for anyone who likes action games.Comment

Re: Just picked up Matrix: Path of Neo
I picked this up yesterday and I agree with some of what was said already. Graphics not the greatest . . . camera can get annoying sometimes.
The redeeming feature is the hand-to-hand and melee combat. The first time through the first hand-to-hand combat level, I was just mashing buttons and everyone was getting their rear handed to them, but it all felt like I had no control over anything.
Then I replayed that same level (the game allows you to go back to any level and retry it, no matter how far you get), and things made more sense - I found I had a better level of control over what was going on.
The only thing I have a real problem with is the gunplay. On Xbox, you have to click the right thumbstick to draw your weapon, and there's no other way to target than auto-lock. Your camera stays fixed to a target, even after that guy dies. The best way to get around this is to click the thumbstick again to put away your gun, then click it again to draw it. There's an option I haven't tried to require you to hold the thumbstick down to keep your gun out, but it may be too hard to use.
This game isn't perfect, but it is really entertaining and very addictive IMO. To me, it's well worth the purchase price. When you do pull of some killer moves, it's really satisfying.
Question to anyone playing - did anyone get past the stealth level without allowing yourself to get captured on the first floor of the building? There are so many guys with guns down there, if I try to run away, they kill you. I'm wondering if it's even possible to not get caught."We were expecting a miracle with Elite, but instead we got Jesus at halfcourt."

Re: Just picked up Matrix: Path of Neo
Yes this game is really Awesome, The reason why you couldnt really pull off any moves with the katana and it looked sucky is because you havent learned how to use it yet. Once you gain more awareness you will find out you will be able to bust off awesome moves with the katana as well as beutiful kicks and punches that will make your jaw just drop. I cannot put this game down, someone was right that said earlier that this game is the best ever in a long time, It isComment

Re: Just picked up Matrix: Path of Neo
Just got this game from GameFly and wow.
Seriously, even if you only saw the preview of the Matrix you'd enjoy this game.
I'm not one for action/fighting games, but this game is great. When you pull off an amazing move you feel like Neo right then and there. The level design is absolutely beautiful.
I'm only up to the building level (for those that watched the trilogy, the part of the movie where Neo sees a deja vu and everyone knows its gonna get crazy in there) - very early stage.
My only complaint thus far is the strength of the normal cops. I'm not talking about the agents. But, these cops stay up for some good bullets. In a regular pistol you can carry about 45 bullets and I swear you'll use at least 10 to take down one cop.
It's great though how as you progress through levels the enemies get increasingly difficult adding armor and heavy loaded guns. Of course, then you can take their guns and match up with them.
The beauty of the game is you can drop the guns, use hand combat and still be successful with 7 guys firing bullets at you. That's the Matrix way and that's the only way I could have it."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Just picked up Matrix: Path of Neo
i swear, it's harder for me to beat those swat guards with the glass shield then it is for me to beat the agents.
some of the stuff in this game annoy me like the bad aiming and camera angles... but the action, fighting combo's, and story keep me comin back
