That's incredible. This actually COULD work, but not in the manner it's being implemented.

Just take a cue from Apple's iTunes store... maybe they should allow the downloading of a game that can only be burnt 3 times... I don't know. There has to be ANOTHER way to prevent piracy.

Right now, the PSP, with it's constant system software and forced upgrade, is a good start. But this would be going too far, IMO...

When the PS2 was released, Sony made a big ****-up in that they told the world that copied games would not be supported by the system.
Weak sales and they soon changed their tune to: "The same piracy problems that we had on the first system still exist..."
The machine then sold like hot cakes!

Sony know that people simply cannot afford to buy a lot of new games - or even a lot of used ones - so made it clear that they could still get to play the discs from their friendly neighbourhood one-eyed digital buccaneer.
At the end of the day, gamers want to play games and Sony wants to sell systems!

Sony has lost their damn mind! or this must be entirely fake.

A 599$ system that you have to buy games for,only buy,no renting,going solely on reviews,not able to trade them in if you don't like them and they think this is gonna work? People CAN'T be <i>that</i> gulible and I doubt Sony is <i>that</i> stupid. This would just kill sports sales too. Who would buy them if you can't get rid of them and they come out yearly? It would just plain sink EA and give the rest minimal hope. Really the only way this will work is if like someone else said the games are 20$

Believe it or not this wouldnt be the first time, Nintendo did the same things not allowing people to rent their games in any video store and it was illegal at one time. Back in the early to late 80s gamers couldnt rent games.

Sony is not looking to smart w/ their anti-piracy measures. Look what they've done with CDs.
