I'm not so sure that's a good comparison seeing as I think my PS2 looks better than the pixelated image he blew up in the third frame from the top. It will look fine, I promise, just not as amazing as it could.

I'd like to hear more on whether people think that comparison is accurate or not. I've been wanting to get an HDTV anyway, but now's not a great time to throw down for both a TV and the 360.

On the other hand, I'm having trouble justifying a $400 console (plus about $150 for three games), all to get a lesser experience. If I'm going to pay that much, I feel like I sure as hell better not be getting a lesser experience than others paying the same.

I'm not even sure how to go about doing all the research needed to pick out an HDTV in the next two weeks, all of which I may decide I can't afford. Sigh. Other than cnet.com and avsforum, are there any other places where I can figure out what tv to get with a cap of about $1200 - $1500.

Can you hook it up to a laptop monitor? Just wondering since you can play it on a pc monitor.

Yes, you just need to get the VGA cable.

I would not consider buying a 360 WITHOUT an HDTV in place. After playing the CALL OF DUTY demo at EB, I can tell you, you are not going to come close to getting that clarity and vividness on a regular TV.

Bottom line IMO is that if you want to move to "next gen" etc. The end user has to know they have to advance with it. Gamers want better graphics/gameplay. Saying you want that then complaining that you need to update you equipment is rediculous.
How many times have you updated you PC graphics card, added ram , installed a CD player in your car etc.
It's no different.

Yeah its not even worth it to buy a Xbox 360 or Ps3 for that matter if all you have is a Boob Tube lol.

Dont waste your money buy an HDTV first then only then, consider buying an Xbox 360 its not worth it and I hate to see a bunch of little kids upset this christmas.

Why buy a 400+ dollar console when the console costs more then the damn tv? makes no sense. Patience is a virtue.

What good HDTV costs less than $400?

Anyway, just to make sure. HDTV monitors will display Xbox games/DVDs in HiDef right? The only reason to get a topbox or whatever, would be for HiDef channels. Am I getting this right or no?

Well I ahve a 53" Panasonic HDTV and I plan on getting A HDTV no bigger than 30"-32", for my bedroom when I get back home. So, I'm good to go on my end.

Yeah if you don't have an HDTV you should definitely not buy a xbox 360 at launch it would be a horrible idea. I mean what is the point honestly

I don't have an HDTV either but I do have a new 27' JVC Flat Screen. I think this may be like HD TV. Just because I don't have HD, it doesn't mean that my TV programs will not look good. It just gives those with HD an advantage.
