Originally posted by ThatCanadianGuyYa, it's not even close. I'm in the same boat. I just bought a 27" Toshiba Flat last boxing day (all I could afford). I'm hoping the games look somewhat decent on it atleast. Being in my last year of College, money is hard to come by. It could be a few years before I could afford a worthwhile HDTV, unless the prices drop a lot in the next 8-12 months.N.Y Mets

I have a 27" flat screen with component inputs that's not an HDTV, but it will hold me over until a week later when I do buy my HDTV.Comment

Re: 360 + No HDTV = No good?
I don't own an HDTV either, but it's not gonna stop me from buying a 360. I own a 27'' Sony Wega with component inputs. Yeah, it's still far away from HDTV, but it will do for now. My next TV will definently be an HDTV though, but that probably will be a ways down the road, as my Wega is only about 3 years old.How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year. Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.Comment

But with some good cables (i.e. monster), it will look very good, just not quite to HD yet though. It'll still look sweet i'm sure.
Anybody gettin nba 2k6 and wants to play starting tuesday, just hit me up with a friends request and say you're from osPS4: aBayBates

Re: 360 + No HDTV = No good?
So I have two questions that hopefully someone can answer, because, even after a ton of research this HDTV thing is driving me nuts.
I know no one can definitively answer the LCD vs. CRT vs. DLP vs. Plasma question - it's a matter of opinion and how much cash you can spend - but . .
1) Is it ALWAYS better to get an integrated HDTV as opposed to an HD-Ready HDTV? And what's a Digital Cable Ready HDTV? I likely will be getting my HD channels via Time Warner Digital Cable, but I move around a bit so I don't want to be held to any one particular mode if possible. Does an integrated HDTV just encompass all possibilities?
2) I just don't get the resolutions thing. I know right now 720p seems to be what people like, particularly for the 360. But is this something where I have to pick one instead of all the others (1080p, 1080i), or can you purchase a TV capable of all of them. I don't get it.
3) Widescreen. Obviously I want to get a widescreen HDTV. What am I looking for, then? Any HDTV that's called a "Widescreen HDTV," or does it need to say that it's a 16:9 screen?Last edited by Dealin Rams; 11-17-2005, 12:47 AM.Comment
