Well, yeah. I guess I should note that there definitely were some Costcos that didn't get any - those seemed to be mainly in less-populated areas. But no matter what, it's clear that Costco as a company got shipments in the 1000s of units this weekend.Originally posted by snivlemreally?!

My hope is that this is a sign of huge shipments to Gamestop and EB this week (of course, I'd be just as happy with shipments to the big retail stores such that you could just walk in and buy one without camping - but I think that's wishful thinking). I'm not too hopeful though, Gamestop and EB seems to have screwed their customers who pre-ordered early hoping to get one before Christmas.Comment

EB/GAMESTOP knew DAMN WELL that they were not going to be able to come even remotely close to filling all these orders. How in the F@#@ can all these other stores Target Bestbuy Costco get these systems in by the dozens and thses BULLS@#t EB/GAMESTOP can only get 1-2 systems every 2-3 weeks? You can't tell me the people who are running this SH@##Y so-called Co don't know what's going on. I alaready have my system I recieved it from TRU and I ordered it 2 weeks before launch. I wonder can these co be somehow sued, because this is flat out wrong, yet they probably have made millions off of the little guy by drawing interest off that $$$$$Originally posted by DmanchildSo it's basically been confirmed. Costcos all over the country put out anywhere between 60 and 150 units each (most of the stores that had them seem to have had 100 or more) both yesterday and today.
I'm going to be one disappointed guy if Costcos able to do that and Gamestop can't stock a single unit before Christmas. If that's the case, pre-ordering is just a raw deal.

Re: Xbox 360 Who's got it, where, and how thread...
I think EB and Gamestop's preorder for both games and systems will go down after all of this. I've got a friend who paid for his 360 back in May along with 3 or 4 games and he still hasn't gotten his. After seeing the way Target did things when I got my system from there, I'm gonna start doing a lot more business at Target. I've bought all of my 360 games from Target and will probably wait from now on and just pick them up at Target. They did their launch stuff up right.Comment

EB and Gamestop of course are not "charging" interest. But, think of all the interest they are making. $50 - $400 per pre-order they took, times 1000's of people they took pre-orders from, all just sitting in the bank collecting interest (or, more likely, invested since it's a big company with financial advisors) since May, June, July, etc. Of course this is probably not a vastly huge amount to Gamestop compared to the profit they hope to make from selling consoles and games, but at the same time, I'm sure they're not crying their eyes out about this aspect of how their pre-order game has gone.Originally posted by The GIGGASUm...

A conspiracy-theorist might even say that that's a nice little racket they've got going there. I really don't think it's anything like that - EB and Gamestop would rather sell us consoles and games then not. But, the fact that, even if they don't come through on pre-orders they're making tons of money off of people who pre-ordered is pretty upsetting, especially when other companies that didn't take peoples money seem to be able to supply the 360 just fine.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 Who's got it, where, and how thread...
Called up Gamestop just to get an update. They got their "2nd shipment" apparently this past week - 2 units for the store. No idea when they'll get any more, probably not till after Christmas.
When I told the guy about the large shipments Costco received this past weekend and the confirmed shipment to Best Buy on the 18th, he says: "Oh, well I guess I'll have someplace to send people to then."
Which I guess sums up what you apparently should now know about Gamestop as a company. Sigh.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 Who's got it, where, and how thread...
Because, although I'd almost love nothing more than to take back any support I've provided to Gamestop in this mess, that concern of mine take's a back-seat to getting a 360 as quickly as possible. Sure, the way it looks now, the likelihood is that I'll find a 360 elsewhere before Gamestop comes through for me. But, I don't want to take the chance that, after taking my money back and cancelling my pre-order, I can't find a 360 anywhere else and Gamestop suddenly gets a big shipment.Originally posted by fsquidWhy do you still have your money there?? Go and get it back.
I'm not losing much by leaving my money with them - what's the interest on $100 (the amount I have with them) for a month or two? Basically nothing. It pisses me off that they're making money off of interest, but taking my $100 back would mean nothing, really. Now, if everyone who had a pre-order with them took their money back, that might send a message.
I don't care about all that, though - I just want to get a 360 as soon as possible. I'm not going to close one window to getting a 360 if it's not causing me any harm to keep it open, even if it's with a company that apparently was the wrong one to do business with.Comment
