Re: Xbox 360 Who's got it, where, and how thread...

 Finally some good news!

Well I ordered mine from EBgames online. I just checked my bank account this afternoon and they have indeed scanned it for the amount of my 360 premium packaged. I was told 2 weeks ago when calling them about an approx. time that I would rec. my 360 (second shipment), and was told by the rep that when I see that scan on my bank account, I can rest assure that my system is on the way. So by all accounts, I should get it tommorow since I paid for overnight shipping. My fingers are crossed!!Comment

Re: Xbox 360 Who's got it, where, and how thread...

From what I have been told in the past (I order online mostly), Ebgames online has nothing to do with what happens at the Ebgames stores. So if you ordered from your local Ebgames store you will have to check with them about your order.Originally posted by The GIGGASSo wait, does that mean EB should get some consoles in store?

Even if you order online, but you choose "in store pick-up", your order is now in the hands of the EBgames store you selected, and you will have to check with that store for questions about your order. This is the info that I was given by an online rep.Comment

Gamestop should really be strung up for offering up new overpriced bundles before filling out all the preorders that they shouldn't have taken in the first place.Comment

I just called Costco round here. They're "expecting some next week." As usual, no one really knows anything, and the only way to get your hands on a 360 right now is to pay through the nose or just somehow get lucky.Originally posted by EWRMETSGo to Cost Co. I just went to the one in Everett, Mass and got a premium bundle for like 500...they still had like 20 when I left. I advise everyone to check Cost Co.Comment

Yeah, I would definitely check Costco often, especially in the mornings. My Costco in Harrisburg, PA got 90 premiums, which they put out in the morning. Luckily, we had a snowstorm in the morning which must have cut down on the amount of traffic at Costco because I grabbed one of the last ones at close to 5PM. Those suckers wouldn't have lasted long in normal circumstances because I saw at least 8 people with them in their cart and the 3 people in front of me when they check your receipt all had 360's.Originally posted by EWRMETSGo to Cost Co. It's a great deal. Premium, Extra Wireless Controller, Play and Charge kit, and PGR3 for $479.99.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 Who's got it, where, and how thread...

Ok, so I called up Costco at 11 am this morning. They had put out about 60 360s this morning, which of course were all sold out by the time I called. Unfortunately, I can't make daily rounds of all the Costcos, Walmarts, and Targets every single morning like some people apparently are able to do.Originally posted by fsquidchecked some places today, no dice.

Here's my real question: It's been pretty much confirmed that many (if not most) Costcos put out a BUNCH of 360s this morning. Some Costco stores were confirmed as having put out upwards of 120 units. If Costco can get ahold of this amount of 360s, then I sure as hell would like to know why Gamestops and EBs - stores that have been holding onto and making interest on hundreds of thousands of dollars that they took for pre-orders across the country - are telling people they have no idea when they can get any, but that even when they do get some, it's going to be 1 or 2 per store.

If there's some understandable explanation why Costco can supply their customers, but the specialty stores that took people's money can't, then I think it's an explanation that we deserve to hear.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 Who's got it, where, and how thread...

There are only 346 Costcos in the US. If each one got 90 that is only 31k in total. I'm pretty sure that this is the first batch my Costco got so it's not like they had some at launch and this is a second batch.Originally posted by DmanchildIf there's some understandable explanation why Costco can supply their customers, but the specialty stores that took people's money can't, then I think it's an explanation that we deserve to hear.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 Who's got it, where, and how thread...

Your statement that there are only 346 Costcos in the US may be true; I don't know. I do know that this is not the first batch they have gotten - that may be true for your local Costco, but most Costcos did get just as many units or more on Nov. 22nd as any other store.Originally posted by Leebo33There are only 346 Costcos in the US. If each one got 90 that is only 31k in total. I'm pretty sure that this is the first batch my Costco got so it's not like they had some at launch and this is a second batch.

In any case, lets look at it even more conservatively - let's say each of the 346 Costcos got an average of 60 units today. That 20,760 units.

Now Gamestop has many more stores - approximately 2000 stores. Even so, if they could get that many units, each store should get about 11 units to fill pre-orders with. Yet the latest update from Gamestop is that they have no idea when they will be getting another shipment, but they do know that whenever that shipment is, it's going to be 3000 units for all 2000 of their stores - about 1.5 units per store. My suggestion is that, because they took people's money for pre-orders, Gamestop should not only be getting as many as Costco, but more. Obviously Gamestop never makes a guarantee to anyone pre-ordering in order to cover their backs in a situation like this, so this isn't really false advertising. But it's just not good business to take people's money if you're not going to even remotely competitive in supplying the product as other stores that, as far as I know, have no edge over you in obtaining them.

Again, as I said, if there's some explanation for this, then fine - let's hear it. My Gamestop simply says "we're getting very few, and we don't even know when that's going to be."

By the way, for those of you wondering about all the confirmed shipments at Costcos this weekend, check this thread at slickdeals: http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=167590. Clearly many Costcos have gotten well over 60 units, so my math above is even conservative.Last edited by Dealin Rams; 12-10-2005, 01:26 PM.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 Who's got it, where, and how thread...

I hit up my local BB yesterday and the person I spoke to already knew how many systems they were getting (60 units, not sure how many premium/core). So I advise everyone to call or go into their local BB and ask how many they are getting. It gave me a pretty good idea on how many other stores are getting, too. My BB got 70 at launch and all the other surrounding stores (Wal Mart, CC, Target) got roughly 12 per store. So if MS uses the same strategy in getting units to stores, I'm expecting that surrounding stores should get systems in little by little hopefully this week.Originally posted by billmaticRadman is more like the ******** homeless man's version of Okur.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 Who's got it, where, and how thread...

So it's basically been confirmed. Costcos all over the country put out anywhere between 60 and 150 units each (most of the stores that had them seem to have had 100 or more) both yesterday and today.

I'm going to be one disappointed guy if Costcos able to do that and Gamestop can't stock a single unit before Christmas. If that's the case, pre-ordering is just a raw deal.Comment
